How to Fix an Office Chair
Fixing an office chair requires step-by-step operation by component to ensure that all connection points are secure. The specific steps are as follows:

1. Fixing the Chair Base and Casters
Insert each caster into the assembly holes of the five-pronged chair base one by one, or first install the casters one by one into the corresponding slots on the chair base. Ensure that the casters are fully embedded to prevent looseness. Some chair bases are designed for threaded installation, requiring the casters to be rotated until they are tightly secured.
2. Fixing the Gas Lift and Chair Base
Turn over the chair base with the casters installed, align the thicker end of the gas lift vertically with the center hole of the chair base, and slowly insert it to the bottom. Ensure that the gas lift remains perpendicular to the chair base during insertion to avoid uneven force distribution due to misalignment. Some gas lifts require rotation for fixation; follow the instructions provided.
3. Fixing the Seat Plate and Seat
Place the seat plate on the bottom of the seat, paying attention to the direction of the seat plate (usually marked), align it with the four screw holes, and then use a screwdriver to screw each screw in 3-4 turns one by one (avoid tightening all at once to prevent misalignment), and then tighten them sequentially until fixed. Some seat plates are designed with snap-fit mechanisms; press them until a 'click' sound confirms they are securely fastened.
4. Fixing the Seat and Gas Lift
Align the center hole at the bottom of the seat with the top of the gas lift, and press down vertically until it is fully inserted into the hole in the seat plate. Check that the connection between the seat and the gas lift is level, and some designs require rotating the seat to lock it in place.
5. Fixing the Backrest
- Method 1: Align the bottom sides of the backrest with the installation positions on both sides of the seat armrests, insert them, and then use two C screws to secure the bottom of the backrest from the bottom of the armrest brackets. Next, align the installation holes at the back of the backrest with those on the seat brackets, and use D screws (requiring two wrenches for cooperation) to lock them in place.
- Method 2: Snap the backrest into the slots on the seat plate tray, and then insert the entire assembly into the gas lift. Ensure that the slots are fully engaged to prevent the backrest from wobbling.
6. Fixing the Armrests
Press the button below the armrest surface, insert the left and right armrests into the holes on the armrest brackets respectively, and secure them from the bottom with three screws (two in some designs). Tighten the screws symmetrically to ensure that the armrests are level and free from looseness.
7. Fixing the Headrest (Optional)
Align the bottom of the headrest with the center slot at the top of the backrest, press it until it is fully fitted, and use two screws to pass through the headrest fixing clips. First, screw them in 3-4 turns to adjust the position, and then tighten them one by one. Ensure that the height of the headrest conforms to ergonomics.
Precautions:
- Regularly check whether all components are aligned during the fixing process to avoid damage caused by forced installation.
- The tightening force of the screws should be moderate; excessive tightness may cause cracking of plastic parts, while insufficient tightness may affect stability.
- After installation is complete, shake the office chair to test whether all connection points are secure and ensure there are no abnormal noises or looseness.
