How to Disassemble an Office Chair

Admin October 10, 2026

The disassembly of an office chair requires selecting the appropriate method based on its specific model and design. Here are some common disassembly steps:

I. Disassembly Method for the Beๆฐช Office Chair BC03Q Deluxe Edition

  1. Headrest Disassembly
Pull the headrest to its highest position, press down firmly on the thin metal strip in the middle, and pull it out once the locking mechanism is loose. If the buckle is tight, use a hard card (such as a bank card) to assist in prying open the gap, avoiding direct pulling that could cause plastic parts to break.

  2. Armrest Disassembly
Invert the chair onto a stable, high platform (such as a workbench), and use the hex wrench that comes with the box to loosen the fixing screws beneath the armrests. Be sure to keep the screws and store them separately to avoid losing them.

  3. Separation of the Backrest and Base
Use a hex wrench to remove the screws at the connection between the backrest and the base, separating the base shell, gas spring, and five-star foot. If the connection is rusted or stuck, lightly tap the contact area between the five-star foot and the base steel plate with a rubber mallet, using vibration to assist in separation. Do not use a metal hammer to strike directly to prevent damage to the surface coating.

  4. Wheel Foot Disassembly
Grasp the root of the wheel foot directly and pull it outward. If the wheel foot is stuck due to long-term use, spray a small amount of lubricant (such as WD-40) onto the connection and wait 5 minutes before attempting to pull it out.

  5. Packing Suggestions
Place the base face down into the packing box, stack the armrests, backrest, headrest, and casters in order, and finally place the adapter, screw pack, and instruction manual, ensuring all components are secured to avoid collisions during transportation.

II. General Gas Rod Disassembly Method

  1. Gas Rod Separation
Face the chair directly, step on the five-star foot to maintain stability, andๆŽฐ (pull) the lift handle to its highest position while applying continuous pressure. Hold both sides of the seat with your hands, shake it left and right, and pull the gas rod upward with force. Note: The longer the chair has been in use, the greater the friction between the gas rod and the base, requiring multiple people to collaborate or the use of lever tools (such as a crowbar) for assistance.

  2. Safety Tips
If there is high-pressure gas inside the gas rod, ensure the chair is fully deflated before disassembly (press the lift handle with no resistance). Do not pierce the gas rod with sharp tools to prevent explosion risks.

III. Disassembly Method Without Professional Tools

  1. Headrest Disassembly
For a slip-on headrest, pull it straight out vertically; for a screw-fixed type, use a screwdriver to remove the screws at the top of the back frame and then take it off.

  2. Armrest Disassembly
The screws are usually located on the side of the back frame or seat cushion. Use a screwdriver to loosen them. If space is limited (such as if the screw head is recessed), try turning it with your hand first, then switch to a tool for deeper operation.

  3. Backrest Disassembly
Lay the chair down, use a screwdriver to remove the three screws connecting the back frame to the chassis (usually arranged in a triangle), and gently lift the backrest after separation to avoid pulling off any wires (for models with electric functions).

  4. Separation of the Hydraulic Rod and Base
Wrap the connection between the hydraulic rod and the base with a towel, and lightly tap it with a hammer to create vibration, gradually separating them. Be sure to use a towel to prevent scratches or deformation of the metal surface.

Notes: Take photos of the connection positions of all components before disassembly for easy reassembly; keep all screws and small parts; if encountering stuck components, prioritize lubrication over forceful disassembly.
