How to Clean Office Chairs
Admin October 16, 2026
The cleaning method for office chairs should be selected based on different components and the degree of dirt. Details are as follows:

I. Regular Wiping (Suitable for Daily Maintenance)
- Operating Sequence: Wipe in the order of the backrest, seat cushion, armrests, and chair legs, from top to bottom, ensuring no areas are missed.
- Cloth Requirements: Use a slightly damp cloth that does not drip water to prevent moisture from seeping in and causing the fabric to become damp or metal parts to rust.
- Applicable Scenarios: Suitable for cleaning surface dust or minor stains, and can be done 1-2 times a week to maintain basic hygiene.
II. Wheel Cleaning (For Moving Parts)
- Disassembling the Wheels:
- Turn the chair upside down (with the seat facing down) and hold the wheel bracket with your hand to pull it out (most are designed with snap-on mechanisms).
- If the snap is tight, use a flat-head screwdriver with a soft cloth to gently pry the edge to avoid scratching the bracket.
- Removing Debris:
- Use tweezers to pick out hair, fibers, and other debris from the gaps in the wheels (operate in the direction of rotation to prevent tangling).
- Use an old toothbrush dipped in neutral detergent (avoid strong alkaline cleaners that can corrode the material) to gently brush the surface and bearing gaps to remove oil and dust.
- Rinse with water, dry with a cloth, and let it air dry for 10 minutes in a well-ventilated area (the bearing part must be completely dry).
- Lubricating and Reassembling:
- Apply 1-2 drops of office equipment-specific lubricant to the bearings (avoid using cooking oil as it attracts dust) and rotate the wheels to evenly distribute the lubricant.
- Align the wheels with the snap and push them in until you hear a 'click' to confirm they are securely installed.
- Turn the chair upright and push it to test. If there is still stuttering, recheck for debris residue.
III. Deep Cleaning of Mesh Office Chairs (For Stubborn Stains)
Requires multiple steps: Brushing โ Pre-treatment โ Focused Stain Treatment โ Water Circulation Cleaning โ Steam Deep Sterilization and Disinfection:
- Brushing: Use a soft-bristled brush to gently brush the mesh surface to remove large particles of dirt.
- Pre-treatment: Spray a professional cleaner and let it sit for 5-10 minutes to decompose the stains.
- Focused Treatment: Use a neutral cleaner to locally brush areas with oil stains or sweat stains.
- Water Circulation Cleaning: Use low-pressure water to rinse, avoiding deformation of the mesh.
- Steam Disinfection: Use high-temperature steam to kill bacteria and accelerate drying.
IV. Deep Cleaning (For Overall Maintenance)
- Comprehensive Vacuuming: Use a vacuum cleaner to remove surface dust and debris from gaps (such as armrest seams and the bottom of chair legs).
- Applying Professional Foam: Spray a penetrating cleaner to allow the foam to deeply penetrate the fixed fibers and decompose stains.
- High-Temperature Treatment: Use a high-temperature steam device for disinfection and to soften stubborn stains (control the temperature to avoid damaging the material).
