How to Assemble an Office Chair

Admin October 16, 2026

The steps for assembling an office chair are as follows:

Step 1: Install the Casters and Chair Base Insert each caster into the mounting holes of the five-pronged chair base one by one, ensuring that each caster is fully seated and secure without any looseness. After installation, place the gas lift vertically into the center hole of the chair base, ensuring that the bottom of the gas lift makes tight contact with the base to provide a stable foundation for subsequent support.

Step 2: Install the Seat Plate and Seat Place the seat plate on the bottom of the seat, paying attention to the orientation of the seat plate (usually the side with the adjustment lever faces forward). After aligning the screw holes of the seat plate and the seat, use a screwdriver to screw each screw in 3-4 turns initially to ensure that all screws are preliminarily fixed. Then, tighten them one by one until they are immovable. Avoid applying excessive force on one side during this step to prevent the seat plate from tilting.

Step 3: Connect the Backrest and Seat Align the two sides at the bottom of the backrest with the armrest mounting holes on both sides of the seat and slowly insert them until the bottom is fully in contact. First, use two screws to pass upward from the bottom of the armrest bracket to fix the connection between the bottom of the backrest and the armrest bracket. Then, align the mounting holes at the back of the backrest with the corresponding holes on the seat bracket. Use two wrenches to tighten the screws (one wrench to hold the nut and the other to rotate the screw) to ensure that the backrest and the seat are firmly connected without any looseness.

Step 4: Install the Armrests Choose the installation method according to the design of the armrests: if the armrests have buttons, press the buttons and insert the armrests into the holes of the armrest brackets. A clicking sound indicates that the buckles are in place. If the armrests need to be fixed with screws, use No. 3 screws to connect the armrests to the frame (seat bracket). When tightening, operate symmetrically to avoid tilting the armrests.

Step 5: Install the Headrest Place the headrest vertically in the middle position at the top of the backrest and press the mounting part of the headrest to make it fit snugly against the backrest. Pass a screw through the hole of the headrest's fixing buckle and screw it into the corresponding threaded hole of the backrest. Similarly, screw each screw in 3-4 turns initially and then tighten them one by one until the headrest is immovable.

Step 6: Overall Assembly Align the assembled seat part with the top of the gas lift and insert it vertically downward until the hole of the seat plate fully encloses the gas lift. Finally, align the chair base (including the casters) with the bottom of the gas lift and slowly press down on the seat to make the gas lift fully engage with the chair base, completing the overall assembly. After assembly, check whether all components are secure and adjust the height of the gas lift to test its flexibility.
