How to Assemble Office Chair Backrest Step by Step
The steps for assembling an office chair backrest are as follows:

1. Verify Component Completeness First, check that all necessary parts are present, including the backrest (part h), backrest-seat connector (part g), and the longest bolt (part i, size m7110mm). Additionally, prepare the matching screws (part j, m510mm) and a large Allen wrench (part p). If any parts are missing, contact the supplier for replacements to avoid interrupting the assembly process.
2. Align Backrest Direction and Hole Positions Place the backrest flat on a soft surface (such as a carpet or foam pad) to prevent scratches. According to the illustrations in the instruction manual, check whether the hole arrangement at the bottom of the backrest matches the corresponding holes on the backrest-seat connector (part g). Aligning the holes correctly is a crucial step; if the direction is wrong, the bolts will not insert properly or the structure will be unstable.
3. Secure the Backrest and Connector
- Insert the longest bolt (part i) through the hole at the bottom of the backrest and through the corresponding hole on the backrest-seat connector (part g), ensuring the bolt fully penetrates.
- Use the large Allen wrench (part p) to screw the matching screw (part j) into the end of the bolt, gradually tightening it until the screw head is flush with the surface of the connector. Apply even pressure to avoid over-tightening and damaging the threads.
4. Fully Tighten and Check Stability After initial fixation, recheck all connection points:
- Use the Allen wrench to alternately tighten each bolt, ensuring there is no looseness or gap between the backrest and the connector.
- Gently shake the backrest to test its stability. If any wobbling is detected, readjust the tightness of the bolts.
Additional Precautions
- Tool Usage: Only use the Allen wrench provided in the instruction manual. Other tools may cause slippage or damage to the parts due to incorrect sizing.
- Surface Protection: Assemble the chair on a soft surface throughout the process to prevent scratches from metal parts rubbing against hard floors.
- Function Calibration: If the chair is equipped with a lumbar support or adjustable backrest (such as height or tilt functions), refer to the general adjustment guide for further adjustments. For example, lumbar supports are usually fixed by rotating or sliding catches and should be positioned and locked according to personal needs.
Safety Warning: After assembly, it is recommended that the user sit and slowly adjust the backrest angle to confirm there are no abnormal sounds or looseness before long-term use. If structural defects are found (such as bolts that cannot be fully screwed in), stop using immediately and contact after-sales service.
