How to Adjust the Height of an Office Chair
Adjusting the height of an office chair involves several common methods:

Pneumatic Rod Adjustment: This is the most commonly used adjustment method for office chairs today. Below the office chair, there is typically a pneumatic rod device along with an adjustment handle connected to it. When you need to raise the chair, simply pull the handle upward. The gas inside the pneumatic rod is compressed, pushing the seat upward. To lower the chair's height, press the handle downward while slightly lifting your body to allow the seat's weight to act on the pneumatic rod, compressing the gas and lowering the chair. Some chairs operate slightly differently. After the high-pressure gas inside the air rod is compressed, it rebounds, causing the seat to rise naturally. To lower the chair, turn the handle upward, lift your hand, and sit on the chair. The rebound of the high-pressure air in the air rod is blocked, and the chair will lower.
Screw Adjustment: Some office chairs have a threaded device at the connection between the chair legs and the seat surface. By rotating the seat surface or the adjustment component below the chair, you can adjust the height. When rotated clockwise, the threads interlock, raising the chair; rotating counterclockwise lowers the chair. During operation, you need to apply a slight amount of force to rotate and overcome the friction between the threads, thereby changing the chair's height.
Hydraulic Adjustment: Some high-end office chairs are equipped with a hydraulic adjustment system, whose adjustment method is similar to that of a pneumatic rod. By pulling the adjustment lever below the seat surface upward, the chair rises; pressing it downward lowers the chair. The hydraulic adjustment system provides a smoother and more precise height adjustment experience because the flow of hydraulic oil is relatively stable, unlike a pneumatic rod which may experience sudden rises or falls.
Fixed Screw Adjustment: There is a fixed screw at the bottom of a swivel chair. To adjust, first loosen this screw, allowing the chair's height to be freely adjusted. After adjusting the chair to the desired height, tighten the fixed screw to ensure the chair's height remains fixed and does not change during use.
When adjusting the height of an office chair, you should find the most comfortable position based on your own physical condition and usage scenario. For example, when working on a computer, keep your eyes level with the monitor; when working at a desk, keep your elbows at desk height; and when sitting for long periods, keep your feet flat on the floor.
