Honda Office Chair

Admin October 08, 2026

Honda has launched an electric chair named Uni-One, which can be used as an office chair and also as a personal mobility tool. Here is a detailed introduction to Uni-One:

I. Design Features
Uni-One is an upgraded version of Honda's 2012 Uni-Cub mobile seat, with its core design centered around the need for hands-free personal mobility. The seat is equipped with six wheels at the bottom, including two large wheels and four small wheels. The four small wheels are omnidirectional wheels with retractable support arms: when unoccupied or when stillness is required, the support arms automatically extend to maintain balance; when traveling, the two large wheels extend and raise the seat, while the small wheels fold up, allowing movement supported solely by the two large wheels. This design ensures both static stability and optimized dynamic mobility efficiency.

II. Mobility Method
The mobility method of Uni-One is similar to that of a hoverboard, driven by detecting the rider's body movements (such as shifts in center of gravity). The seat is equipped with built-in sensors that can recognize the rider's body motions, allowing users to control the direction of movement by balancing their body weight or using a manual joystick, enabling free movement forward, backward, left, right, and diagonally, and even supporting parallel movement. This operating mode lowers the barrier to use, making it particularly suitable for users with limited mobility.

III. Application Scenarios
Honda plans to mass-produce Uni-One as a multifunctional personal mobility solution. In office settings, it can serve as a smart office chair, enhancing space utilization through flexible movement; in personal entertainment or travel scenarios, its compact design (adjustable height, foldable wheels) makes it easy to carry, serving as an alternative to traditional wheelchairs or short-distance transportation tools. Additionally, its hands-free operation feature is extremely friendly to individuals with disabilities or limited mobility, reflecting Honda's attention to accessible design.

IV. Technological Advantages
The core technology of Uni-One lies in the combination of dynamic balance control and ergonomics. By continuously monitoring changes in the center of gravity, the seat can automatically adjust the wheel support state to ensure stability during movement; at the same time, its lightweight structure and low-noise motor design balance portability and comfort. These features make it not only suitable for indoor office use but also extendable to short-distance mobility needs in public places such as shopping malls and airports.
