Homemade Office Chair Cover
Homemade office chair covers can be made using four methods: basic covers, padded chair covers, detachable backrest covers, and simple chair covers. Here are the specific steps:

Making a Basic Cover: This method is suitable for basic office chairs and is simple to operate without the need for complex tools. First, find a large enough piece of paper and lay it flat along the edge of the chair. Draw a circle around the edge and cut it out to obtain the basic paper pattern of the chair. Next, place the cut-out paper pattern on the prepared fabric and expand the fabric edge outward by 1 inch or 1.5 inches to reserve space for subsequent hemming and installing elastic bands. After hemming the fabric edge, thread an elastic band through it. The length of the elastic band can be adjusted according to the actual size of the chair to ensure it can be firmly placed on the chair. This completes the making of a basic cover.
Making a Padded Chair Cover: For padded office chairs, more precise pattern-making is required. When pattern-making for the side and seat, draw a horizontal line at the lower edge of the seat or mark points and then use a ruler to draw a straight line to ensure accurate dimensions. When measuring the backrest and seat, if the dimensions of the backrest and the back are the same, the measurement steps can be simplified. Cut the fabric according to the measured dimensions to make a chair cover that fits the shape of the padded chair. Pay attention to ensuring the flatness and fit of the fabric during the cutting and sewing process.
Making a Detachable Backrest Cover: First, find a large enough piece of cloth and drape it over the chair. Leave an opening at the widest position and pull it up to initially determine the approximate shape of the cover. Cut off the excess part and sew it up. When hemming and leaving an opening, fold the edge inward and sew it from the inside. Lock more stitches at the end of the hem to prevent unraveling. It can be fixed with Velcro at an appropriate position. Attach the fuzzy side of the Velcro to the back and the prickly side to the front. At the same time, pay attention to leaving some thickness to ensure the chair cover is flat after installation and can be easily detached.
Making a Simple Chair Cover: Prepare a piece of fabric the same size as the chair seat as the front of the chair cover, and then prepare a long strip of fabric that can go around the edge of the chair seat as the width part. Sew the long strip of fabric to the chair seat fabric. You can use flat seams or overlock seams to firmly connect the two and form a complete simple chair cover.
