Home Office Chair Too Short
If your home office chair is too short, you can choose the following solutions based on the type of chair:

Adjustable Modern Lifting Chairs (Office Chairs/Ergonomic Chairs)
These chairs usually adjust their height via a control lever (handle) beneath the seat. When raising the height, the person should leave the chair or lift their body and pull the lever upward. When lowering the height, the person should sit on the chair and push the lever downward. If the chair sinks when sat on or the lever cannot be moved to raise the height, the following reasons may be the cause:
- Pneumatic rod failure: The pneumatic rod is the core component for height adjustment. If it leaks air or is damaged, a new pneumatic rod needs to be replaced.
- Lock mechanism problems: Check if the lock mechanism is stuck or damaged, and adjust it to restore normal locking function.
- Loose connectors: Tighten all screws and bolts to ensure the chair's structure is stable. If you do not want to replace the pneumatic rod temporarily, you can use an emergency fixing method: Remove the fixing ring, find a PPR pipe of an appropriate height, and place it over the pneumatic rod as support, then reinstall the ring. However, after this, the chair will no longer be adjustable in height, so use it with caution. Some high-end chairs are equipped with knob-type height adjustment. Turn the knob clockwise to raise the height and counterclockwise to lower it. After adjustment, ensure the knob is locked to prevent loosening.
Gaming Chairs
When the lifting function of a gaming chair fails, the repair method is the same as that for the above-mentioned office chairs. First, check the pneumatic rod, lock mechanism, and connectors, and replace or adjust them according to the cause of the failure.
Non-adjustable Chairs (such as wooden chairs, dining chairs, ordinary metal-frame chairs)
- Use dedicated heightening pads: Purchase rubber or plastic chair leg heightening pads and directly place them over or stick them to the bottom of the chair legs. These can stably raise the chair height by 2 - 5 centimeters and also have the advantages of being anti-slip and reducing noise.
- DIY heightening: Use materials at hand, such as cutting appropriate wooden blocks or thick fabric wrappers, and fix them to the chair legs and tie them tightly with ropes. Ensure the heightening materials are firm and stable to prevent the chair from tipping over.
- Place seat cushions or backrests: Stack memory foam seat cushions on the seat (a thickness of 5 - 10 cm is appropriate to avoid excessive height causing the waist to hang in the air), or use adjustable-height seat cushions (with anti-slip designs at the bottom).
- Use footrests or low stools: Support your feet to improve your sitting posture and relieve discomfort caused by a chair that is too short.
- Replace the chair: If the above methods are not effective or affect safety, replace the chair with one that meets your needs.
