Hand-drawn Home Office Chair

Admin October 11, 2026

For hand-drawing a home office chair, you can refer to the method of drawing a single chair in one-point perspective or try the simple sketch approach. Here are the specific steps:

Drawing a Single Chair in One-Point Perspective

  • Drawing the Front Elevation: First, draw a vertical rectangle as the front elevation of the chair, with its height approximately twice its width. Find the midpoint of the rectangle and draw a short auxiliary line slightly below it. This auxiliary line serves as the bottom of the chair's seat cushion. This step determines the basic front outline of the chair and the position of the seat cushion, laying the foundation for drawing other parts later.
  • Determining the Backrest and Armrests: Next, draw diagonal lines as the chair's backrest. Adjust the inclination angle of the backrest according to actual needs and design style. After determining the height of the chair's armrests, draw the slanted shapes of the armrests. The shapes of the armrests can be designed according to personal preference, such as straight or curved.
  • Drawing the Chair Legs: After completing the drawing of the backrest and armrests, draw the chair legs. At this point, the side of the chair is basically completed. Pay attention to the thickness and length ratio of the chair legs to make them conform to the overall aesthetics and practical use requirements.
  • One-Point Perspective Treatment: In one-point perspective, the vanishing point is generally about 1.2 meters above the chair. Connect the front elevation of the chair with the vanishing point and draw the depth and height of the chair along these connecting lines. Draw a vertical line downwards from the innermost edge of the chair as the edge of the bottom chair leg, and then draw a horizontal line to represent the inner chair leg. This creates a sense of space and three-dimensionality.
  • Outlining: Finally, use a neutral pen to outline, making the lines clearer and smoother and highlighting the outline and structure of the chair.

Simple Sketch Approach

Although it is not clear whether the simple sketch approach is completely suitable for home office chairs, you can try it according to your needs. For example, connect four diagonal lines to form a rough chair frame, then draw a curved line as the chair's seat cushion and three vertical lines as the chair legs. This drawing method is relatively simple and quick, suitable for quickly recording ideas or conducting preliminary design concepts. However, it may not be as good as the one-point perspective drawing method in terms of showing details and three-dimensionality.
