Home Office Chair Cleaning
Admin October 12, 2026
Cleaning a home office chair requires targeted methods based on different components and materials, as detailed below:

1. Wheel Cleaning
- Hair Entanglement Handling: If the wheels are entangled with hair, carefully cut along the direction of entanglement using small scissors to avoid damaging the wheel structure.
- Dirt Cleaning: Moisten a used facial towel and let it dry slightly until it is damp. Wrap the convex side around the wheel, secure it with a rubber band, and then sit on the chair and move back and forth to transfer dirt to the towel using friction. This method avoids direct contact with stains and reduces cleaning difficulty.
- Dirt Prevention: Use invisible tape (with a width that fits the wheel and moderate stickiness) to stick on the wheel surface. This can adsorb dust without leaving residue or making the wheel too slippery when the tape is removed.
2. Mesh Office Chair Cleaning
Mesh materials require deep cleaning, as simply wiping the surface cannot thoroughly remove stains and bacteria.
- Process: Brush (lightly brush surface dust with a soft-bristled brush), pre-treat (spray a specialized cleaner on stubborn stains), focus on stain treatment (wipe repeatedly with a slightly damp cloth), rinse (rinse with water or wipe with a damp cloth until no foam remains), and steam deep clean and disinfect (use a steam cleaner for high-temperature treatment).
- Note: Avoid using strongly corrosive cleaners to prevent mesh fiber breakage or fading.
3. Overall Wiping Process
Wiping from top to bottom can avoid secondary contamination:
- Order: Backrest โ Seat cushion โ Armrests โ Chair legs.
- Cloth Requirements: The cloth should be slightly damp and not dripping. Immediately absorb residual moisture with a dry cloth after wiping to prevent water stains from penetrating and causing metal parts to rust or wooden parts to deform.
4. Sponge Seat Cushion Cleaning
- Removing Surface Dust: Use a vacuum cleaner to suck up surface dust or manually pat to make the dust fall off.
- Removing Stubborn Stains: Dip a damp and wrung-out cloth into a small amount of dry cleaning solution or water-based cleaner, and gently wipe the stain multiple times to avoid deforming the sponge by applying too much force; after wiping, use a clean cloth to wipe twice more to thoroughly remove cleaner residue.
- Air Drying: After cleaning, place in a well-ventilated area to air dry naturally, or use a fan on low speed to dry; if using a hairdryer, keep it at least 10 cm away and at a low temperature to prevent stains from solidifying due to high heat or the sponge from burning.
- Prohibitions: Do not use overly hot water or a high-speed hairdryer directly; avoid the sponge absorbing too much water and becoming moldy; strictly control the amount of cleaner used, as excessive residue can shorten the fabric's lifespan.
