Home Office Chair Cleaning

Admin October 09, 2026

You can refer to the following methods for cleaning your office chair at home:

Caster Cleaning

  • Hair Entanglement Handling: If hair is entangled on the casters, you can use a three-step disassembly and cleaning method. First, turn the office chair upside down, hold the caster bracket with your hand, and gently pull out the casters (most are designed with snap-on mechanisms and do not require tools; if they are tightly stuck, you can use a flat-head screwdriver with a soft cloth underneath to gently pry the edge of the snap-on). After removing the casters, use tweezers to follow the rotation direction of the casters and pick out the long hair strands and carpet fibers from the gaps one by one. You can also use very small scissors, but it will take more time.
  • Dirt Cleaning: After handling the hair, prepare a used facial towel, wet it and let it air dry slightly. Use the textured side of the towel against the wheels to increase friction. Wrap the towel around the wheels, secure it with a rubber band, and sit on the chair and move it back and forth to let the dirt on the wheels rub onto the facial towel. Repeat this several times to clean it thoroughly. You can also use an old toothbrush dipped in a small amount of neutral detergent (do not use strong alkaline cleaners to prevent corrosion of the casters) to gently scrub the surface of the casters and the gaps in the bearings to remove residual dust and oil stains. Then rinse the casters with water (avoid getting water into the bearing part), dry them with a dry cloth, and let them air dry in a well-ventilated place for 10 minutes.
  • Subsequent Protection: Stick invisible tape on the wheels. The tape should be of an appropriate width and moderate stickiness. After tearing it off, there is almost no sticky feeling on the wheels. When sticking it, do not make it too flat; a slightly wrinkled appearance can prevent the wheels from being too slippery. This can be done in just over a minute. After cleaning, drop 1 - 2 drops of lubricating oil at the bearings (choose lubricating oil specifically for office equipment and avoid using cooking oil to prevent dust absorption). Turn the casters by hand to distribute the lubricating oil evenly.

Overall Chair Cleaning

  • Mesh Office Chairs: For these chairs, the dirt is inside, and simply wiping the surface is useless. They need to go through multiple steps such as brushing, pre-treatment, focused stain removal, water circulation cleaning, and steam deep cleaning and disinfection.
  • Comprehensive Cleaning Process: First, perform a thorough vacuuming to remove surface dust and debris from the gaps. Then apply professional foam to allow the cleaner to fully penetrate into the fixed fibers. Next, use high-temperature equipment for treatment, which can also disinfect.
