High-End Office Chair Fixation
High-end office chairs can be fixed using the following methods, depending on the specific type of fault:

I. Temporary Fixation Solutions for Chair Height Sinking
If the chair fails to lock at the desired height due to cylinder aging or seal failure, the following two methods can be used to enhance friction and fix the height:
Hose Clamp Reinforcement Method
- Expose the Cylinder: Slide down the plastic skirt at the bottom of the chair to reveal the metal cylinder. If the skirt obstructs the cylinder, invert the chair and use a screwdriver to remove the base clips, wheels, and skirt.
- Adjust the Height: Set the chair to the ideal height (seat level with the knees) to ensure the cylinder is in the target position.
- Enhance Friction: Wrap rubber bands, tape around the cylinder, or lightly sand it to increase friction between the hose clamp and the cylinder.
- Secure the Clamp: Wrap the hose clamp around the cylinder and tighten it until it cannot slide. Test the chair for stability.
PVC Pipe Fixation Method
- Measure Parameters: Use a tape measure to determine the cylinder's diameter and the exposed length at the desired height. Select a PVC pipe with a matching or slightly larger diameter (e.g., 1.5 inches).
- Cut the Pipe: Saw the PVC pipe lengthwise so it can fit around the cylinder. For more flexible adjustments, consider using a plastic shower ring instead, but note that its load-bearing capacity may be lower than that of a PVC pipe.
- Install and Fix: Slide the cut PVC pipe over the cylinder and adjust it to the target height before securing it. This method fixes the height by physically restricting cylinder extension but may affect the chair's aesthetics.
II. Fixation Solutions for Installation or Structural Looseness
If the chair wobbles due to loose screws or improperly installed components, recheck and reinforce the connection points:
Follow Installation Procedures
- Take the E2 PRO ergonomic chair as an example. During installation, proceed in order: first insert the chair wheels into the foot assembly holes, install the gas lift onto the foot, secure the armrest brackets to the seat, connect the base to the backrest, and finally align the chair with the gas lift and insert it into the base hole.
- The headrest is usually fixed with clips and screws. Note that the material of the cable control tab may change with product upgrades, so follow the instructions.
Check Screw Fittings
- No. 3 screws are commonly used to secure armrests and other components in office chair installation. If screws are loose or missing, use the corresponding size to retighten them.
- Regularly inspect the screws at all connection points (e.g., base, backrest, armrests) for looseness to prevent structural instability due to prolonged use.
Precautions: If the above methods do not resolve the issue, it may indicate internal cylinder damage or a design flaw in the chair. It is recommended to contact the manufacturer for replacement parts or professional repair. Ensure the chair is powered off (if it has electric functions) before operation and wear protective gloves to avoid cuts.
