Furniture Office Chair Packaging

Admin October 16, 2026

You can refer to the following steps for packaging furniture office chairs to ensure safe and efficient handling:

  1. Cleaning and Pre-treatment Wipe the chair's surface with a clean cloth, including the armrests, backrest, seat, and other parts, focusing on removing dust and stains. Dust can cause the packaging materials to slide, increasing the risk during handling. If the chair is upholstered, use a vacuum cleaner to remove debris from the crevices. For detachable components (such as armrests, wheels, and gas cylinders), disassemble them first and store them separately. Wrap each component individually with stretch film to prevent parts from being lost or scratched against each other.

  2. Bubble Wrap Cushioning Protection Wrap the main body of the chair horizontally with thick bubble wrap twice, then wrap it vertically until fully covered, ensuring the bubble side faces outward to enhance cushioning. For large areas like the backrest and seat, you can overlap two layers of bubble wrap. If the chair has sharp edges (such as metal frames), fold the bubble wrap into 'corner protectors' and secure them to avoid damage from bumps during handling. Note: Do not apply tape directly to wooden or metal surfaces to prevent adhesive residue.

  3. Outer Packaging Creation and Securing

  • Original Packaging Utilization: If the original cardboard box is retained, place the packaged chair directly inside and fill any gaps with padding materials (such as foam pellets or old clothes) to prevent movement.
  • Custom Packaging: If there is no original packaging, cut cardboard according to the chair's dimensions to create a 'square' frame that wraps around it. Install hard corner protectors at the edges (which can be folded from corrugated cardboard). For valuable chairs made of rosewood or solid wood, it is recommended to have a custom wooden crate made, with foam boards or sponge filling inside. Ensure the distance between the chair and the crate walls does not exceed 5 centimeters to reduce transportation impact.
  1. Stretch Film Reinforcement and Labeling Tightly wrap the chair with stretch film 3-4 times along its height, focusing on reinforcing the seams and the bottom wheels to prevent the packaging from coming loose. Finally, attach labels to the top and sides of the packaging, clearly marking information such as 'Fragile', 'Valuable', and 'This Side Up' to remind handlers to handle with care. If the chair contains glass components (such as armrest panels), wrap them separately with bubble wrap and label them as 'Glass Items'.

Key Tips: Before handling, check that all packaging is secure. Avoid using newspaper or thin plastic bags for direct wrapping, as these materials have poor cushioning and are prone to tearing. For electric office chairs, disconnect the power supply in advance and secure the battery compartment to prevent short circuits during transportation.
