Formway Office Chair

Admin October 09, 2026

Formway is a design studio from New Zealand with over fifty years of history, and its office chairs feature unique performance and design concepts. Here is a detailed introduction:

Generation Series: This series was developed by Formway Design for Knoll in 2009. Its main feature is unique flexibility, with the backrest capable of bending 90 degrees. This design can automatically adjust support according to the user's posture, maintaining balance and stability regardless of the sitting position, and providing good support for the body's curves, making the user more comfortable during office work.

ReGeneration Series: In 2011, Formway launched the ReGeneration series. Designed with the concept of 'keeping people comfortable in any posture', this series removes the backrest support. This design makes the overall functionality operate more freely and easily, breaking the excessive restrictions of traditional office chairs on the user's posture and giving the user greater freedom to adapt to different work scenarios and habits.

MultiGeneration Series: The MultiGeneration series, launched in 2016, is positioned as a relaxed side chair. It retains the basic seating functions while removing complex designs and adding lively and relaxed elements, aligning with the concept of mobile office. For example, adding wheels to an ordinary four-legged chair makes it easier for users to move around the office area; the chairs can be stacked for storage, saving space and suitable for the flexible and changing needs of modern office environments.

New Generation Office Chair Designed for Knoll: This chair offers a variety of color options and has modified the backrest design and watch holder shape. The multiple colors can meet the aesthetic needs of different users, while the changes to the backrest design and watch holder shape further enhance the user's comfort, making it more comfortable for those who sit for long periods.

Lightly Chair: Designed by Formway for the furniture brand Noho, the Lightly chair uses plant-based polymers and recycled waste materials, weighing only 2.75 kilograms. Its ergonomic design, lightness, flexibility, and eco-friendliness have earned it the Dezeen Awards 2023 Furniture Design of the Year, demonstrating Formway's outstanding capabilities in eco-friendly and ergonomic design.
