Flax Office Chair Renovation

Admin October 12, 2026

The renovation of flax office chairs can be carried out in three steps: basic cleaning and maintenance, structural reinforcement and repair, and appearance renewal and transformation. The specific operations vary depending on the chair's material and damage condition.

Basic cleaning and maintenance: First, clean the surface of the flax chair seat. Use a vacuum cleaner to remove floating dust. For stubborn stains, use a neutral detergent with a soft-bristled brush to gently scrub, and then dry it with a dry cloth. Be careful to avoid exposure to the sun to prevent the flax material from fading or deforming. At the same time, focus on cleaning components such as casters, gas rods, and armrests. After disassembling them with a screwdriver, use a brush or a damp cloth to clean the debris in the gaps to ensure that all components are clean and dust-free.

Structural reinforcement and repair: Check the screws on the chair base, backrest, armrests, and other parts. Tighten the loose screws with a matching screwdriver. If the screws are stripped, replace them with screws of the same model. For caster jamming issues, remove the casters to clean the debris in the bearings and add an appropriate amount of lubricating oil. If the gas rod sinks and cannot be adjusted in height, replace it with a gas rod of the same specification that has a safety certification. When replacing, strictly follow the operating specifications to avoid damaging other parts of the chair.

Appearance renewal and transformation: If the flax fabric is severely worn, you can choose a wear-resistant new fabric such as tech fabric for replacement. When covering the new fabric, reserve a 5-centimeter edge for fixation. Lay the new fabric flat on the chair frame and gradually smooth it out from the center to the surroundings to avoid wrinkles. When using a staple gun for fixation, insert a staple every 3 centimeters to ensure that the fabric is tightly attached to the frame. Smooth out the fabric step by step, first fix the central area and then extend to the edges. Check whether the fabric is flat after fixing each part, and adjust it promptly if there are wrinkles. You can also choose to put an elastic chair cover of the appropriate size on the chair and fix it directly on the backrest. These covers come in a variety of styles and are easy to replace. In addition, you can add back cushions and lumbar pillows to improve comfort or wrap knitted covers around the armrests to enhance aesthetics.
