Fishing Chair Refitted into Office Chair

Admin October 09, 2026

The feasible plan for refitting a fishing chair into an office chair requires a combination of structural reinforcement and functional adaptation, with the following core steps:

1. Selection of the Chair to be Refitted

It is preferable to choose a discarded office chair with a pneumatic height adjustment function as the base. Its metal frame provides stable support, and the height adjustment feature is suitable for various usage scenarios. During the refitting process, the wheels and five-star base need to be removed, while retaining the pneumatic rod and metal frame. Avoid models with overly soft mesh seats (as prolonged sitting can lead to discomfort in the buttocks due to insufficient support). If the original chair is a folding iron chair, focus on inspecting weak points such as the cross-axis to provide a basis for subsequent reinforcement.

2. Structural Reinforcement and Functional Expansion

  1. Chassis Reinforcement For weak points in the original chair's structure (such as the cross-axis of a folding chair), use aluminum alloy scraps to add cross-braces at the bottom, securing them with zip ties or wire to enhance overall stability. If the original chair is too light (such as a plastic stool), add weight blocks or sandbags at the bottom to prevent tipping.

  2. Addition of Accessories

    • Rod Holder Bracket: Cut a 30-centimeter used PPR water pipe, sharpen one end to insert into the ground, drill a hole at the other end, and tie it to the armrest with wire for fixing the fishing rod.
    • Umbrella Holder: Drill a hole in the chair back and insert an L-shaped iron bar (about 1 centimeter in diameter), with one end securing the umbrella pole and the other end embedded in the chair back to provide sunshade functionality.
    • Adjustable Leg Design: Refer to the refitting case of a moon chair and use the front holes of the original chair to install adjustable legs (such as nylon universal feet cups), securing them with nuts to adapt to uneven ground.

3. Cost and Effect Optimization

The refitting cost can be kept at an extremely low level (for example, in a 25-yuan case, only accessories such as nylon universal feet cups and nuts need to be purchased). By reasonably utilizing used materials (such as PPR water pipes and iron bars) and retaining the core functions of the original chair (such as pneumatic height adjustment), comfort can be significantly improved without significantly increasing the weight. Some cases show that after refitting, the chair can achieve the effect of "no sore waist or numb legs", making it especially suitable for long-term fishing or outdoor office scenarios.

4. Precautions

  1. Material Selection: Avoid using lightweight materials such as plastic as the main reinforcement components. Ensure that the material strength is sufficient (such as aluminum alloy and iron bars).
  2. Weight Balance: The reinforcement materials should be lightweight to avoid affecting portability due to excessive weight increase.
  3. Safety Testing: After the refitting is completed, conduct a load-bearing test (such as simulating prolonged sitting and slight shaking) to ensure that there is no looseness or deformation in the structure.
