Feng Shui Office Chair Selection
Admin October 10, 2026
In Feng Shui, the selection of an office chair requires comprehensive consideration of factors such as shape, stability, and support to create a favorable work environment and boost career development.

I. Shape Selection
Different shapes of office chairs have varying impacts on energy flow and the state of individuals.
- Circular: The yang energy is intense, and the energy flow is active, making it difficult for people to concentrate for long periods. For positions that require prolonged sitting, such as writers and programmers, circular chairs may reduce work efficiency; however, for creative fields like art design and event planning, the agility of circular chairs can inspire creativity and promote divergent thinking.
- Curved: Energy converges inward, aiding in concentration on work. However, it should be noted that curved chairs้ ๅฅ (matching) with U-shaped desks may cause excessive feelings of confinement due to limited space, leading to oppression and discomfort, and should be avoided.
- Rectangular: They generate stable and positive energy, and long-term use can strengthen career ambition, a sense of responsibility, and mission. The regularity of rectangular chairs aligns with the Feng Shui principle of balance between "heavenly roundness and earthly squareness," making them suitable for most positions, especially those in management and administration that require a stable aura.
II. Stability
The stability of a chair symbolizes the solidity of the work foundation.
- Sturdy Structure: Prioritize chairs made of robust materials with a stable structure to avoid wobbling or strange noises, symbolizing "sitting firmly like Mount Tai" and a solid career foundation.
- Avoid Wheels: Executive chairs with wheels may create a sense of insecurity due to excessive mobility at the bottom, implying a lack of foundation in one's career and potentially affecting decision-making confidence and long-term development. If mobility is needed, choose swivel chairs with locking mechanisms and fix the wheels during use to enhance stability.
III. Support and Assistance
The design of the chair's backrest and sides should embody the concepts of "support" and "assistance."
- Backrest Support: The chair should have a solid backrest, symbolizing support from superiors or assistance from mentors in work, akin to having a "solid backing." It is recommended that the backrest height be level with or slightly higher than the head to avoid a feeling of "no support" if it is too low.
- Armrests on Both Sides: Armrests represent assistance from teammates. Symmetrical armrest design helps create a collaborative atmosphere and promotes mutual progress. The armrest height should match the desk to avoid discomfort from being too high or too low, affecting sitting posture.
By reasonably selecting the shape, ensuring stability, and focusing on support design, an office chair can become an auxiliary tool for improving work efficiency and career luck.
