Fabric Office Chair Stain Removal

Admin October 13, 2026

When stains appear on fabric office chairs, different cleaning methods can be adopted depending on whether the chair is detachable, effectively removing stains and reducing the probability of odor generation.

Detachable Fabric Office Chairs

For detachable fabric office chairs, it is recommended to perform layered cleaning to remove stains. Since some liquid stains may penetrate into the fabric padding layer, simple cleaning often only deals with surface stains, and deeply embedded dirt can become a persistent source of odor. Therefore, after removing the fabric, clean the fabric and the underlying layer thoroughly. For the fabric, clean it in the usual way for fabrics, such as using a mild detergent and choosing an appropriate cleaning intensity based on the degree of staining to ensure complete removal of stains on the fabric. For the underlying layer, as it may harbor a lot of dirt, careful cleaning is required. Use a soft-bristled brush dipped in an appropriate amount of cleaning agent to scrub and remove dirt and odor sources attached to the underlying layer. Layered cleaning can reduce the probability of odor generation from the source and restore the office chair to a clean and tidy state.

Non-detachable Fabric Chairs

If the fabric chair is non-detachable, more caution is needed during cleaning. First, use a soft cloth dampened with water to gently wipe the fabric surface to preliminarily remove surface dust and stains. Then, use a soft-bristled brush dipped in soapy water to gently wipe the fabric surface. For areas with dirt, use dishwashing detergent for focused cleaning. Dishwashing detergent has strong stain-removing ability and can effectively break down stains. After cleaning, use a wet cloth with more water to wipe off the soapy dirty water on the fabric surface. Repeat this several times to ensure the fabric is clean and residue-free. Finally, place the chair in a shaded place to dry, avoiding direct sunlight which can cause the fabric to fade or deform. After it is basically dry, place it in the sun for a short while to disinfect and kill bacteria. In addition, specialized cleaning agents for "sofas" or "carpets" can also be used for cleaning, but avoid excessive water wiping to prevent moisture from penetrating inside and causing mold problems. At the same time, all "fabric covers" and "linings" should be dry-cleaned to ensure their quality and shape.

Using Cleaning Agents with Deep Stain-removing Factors

You can also use cleaning agents containing deep stain-removing factors. These cleaning agents do not require vigorous scrubbing. Just spray them on the dirty area and brush back and forth with a brush a few times to easily remove stains. They are easy to operate and have a significant effect.
