Fabric Office Chair

Admin October 09, 2026

The fabric selection for fabric office chairs should be based on functional requirements and usage scenarios. Common types include mesh, velvet, and linen-velvet fabrics, with high-density polyester being the preferred choice for the bottom material. The following analysis covers fabric characteristics, suitable scenarios, and bottom material selection:

I. Fabric Types and Characteristics

  1. Mesh Fabric
    Mesh fabric is the most common choice for fabric office chairs, with its core advantage being excellent breathability. The mesh structure allows air to circulate freely, effectively reducing the stuffy feeling caused by prolonged sitting, especially suitable for summer or poorly ventilated office environments. Additionally, mesh fabric has moderate elasticity, providing some support to distribute body pressure and reduce fatigue. In terms of durability, mesh fabric is tear-resistant, less prone to deformation, and has a smooth surface that makes dust less likely to adhere, making cleaning and maintenance relatively easy. If both breathability and durability are required, mesh fabric is the top choice for long-term office scenarios.

  2. Velvet Fabric
    Velvet fabric is renowned for its softness and skin-friendliness. The fine็ป’ๆฏ› (fluff) on its surface provides a warm touch, suitable for winter or offices with low air conditioning temperatures. Its soft visual effect enhances the warmth of the space and is often used in high-end or design-oriented office chairs. However, velvet fabric has relatively weak breathability, making it prone to stuffiness during prolonged sitting, and the็ป’ๆฏ› (fluff) easily attracts dust, requiring regular cleaning. Moreover, velvet fabric has average wear resistance, and long-term friction may cause pilling or a decrease in glossiness on the surface, making it more suitable for short-term use or low-frequency movement scenarios, such as reception areas or management offices.

  3. Linen-Velvet Fabric
    Linen-velvet fabric is an upgraded version of velvet fabric, combining the natural breathability of linen with the softness of velvet, commonly found in executive chairs (boss chairs). The addition of linen fibers enhances the fabric's wrinkle resistance and durability while maintaining the comfortable touch of velvet. Linen-velvet fabric usually has a more subdued color tone, suitable for formal or business-style spaces, but its price is relatively high, requiring budget consideration when making a choice.

II. Bottom Material Selection
The bottom of an office chair often comes into contact with the ground and needs to be wear-resistant, dirt-resistant, and stable. Among common materials, high-density polyester is superior to non-woven fabric: its fiber structure is tight, tear-resistant, and can withstand frequent movement or heavy pressure; after special surface treatment, its dirt resistance is significantly improved, and the dyeing is firm, less prone to fading, suitable for long-term use in high-end office chairs. Although non-woven fabric is low-cost, it is prone to damage and is mostly used in low-end products, not recommended as the first choice.

III. Comprehensive Recommendations

  • For long-term office work: Prioritize mesh fabric for both breathability and durability;
  • For short-term use or่ฟฝๆฑ‚ (pursuing) comfort: Velvet or linen-velvet fabric is more suitable;
  • For bottom material: Choose high-density polyester directly to ensure the chair's service life and stability.
    Matching materials according to actual needs can maximize the functionality and cost-effectiveness of office chairs.
