Extended and Heightened Office Chair

Admin October 11, 2026

If you need to directly purchase an extended and heightened office chair, we recommend the LiberNovo brand's 48cm extended version computer chair. Its deep black or dark gray color scheme, combined with ergonomic design, can meet the needs of both gaming and office scenarios. If you need to modify your existing office chair to achieve an extended and heightened effect, you can use the following methods:

  1. Install lumbar and headrest supports
Measure the width of the chair back (it is recommended that the error does not exceed ยฑ2cm) and select appropriate lumbar and headrest components. Prioritize models with punch-free buckles or elastic straps for fixation to avoid damaging the chair structure. After installation, adjust them to fit the natural curvature of the human spine, focusing on supporting the lumbar L3-L5 region and cervical C5-C7 region, which can effectively disperse the pressure from prolonged sitting. For example, a lumbar support made of memory foam can adapt to different body types through deformation, while an adjustable-angle headrest can meet the neck support needs under different sitting postures.

  2. Use heightening cushions or footstools
Place a 3-8cm thick heightening cushion (preferably made of high-density foam or gel) on the chair seat, which can directly raise the sitting height, increase the parallelism between the thighs and the ground by 15ยฐ-20ยฐ, and reduce lumbar lordosis. If the chair height is insufficient and causes the legs to hang in the air, you can use an adjustable-height footstool under the chair to keep the knee joints bent at 90ยฐ-100ยฐ, avoiding obstruction of blood return. Note that the surface of the footstool should be non-slip and the edges should be rounded to prevent bumps.

  3. Replace with heightened chair legs
Measure the interface diameter of the original chair legs (common specifications are 25mm, 28mm, and 35mm) and select matching heightening accessories (usually can raise the height by 5-15cm). Prioritize aluminum alloy or steel materials to ensure a load-bearing capacity of โ‰ฅ150kg. When installing, check the connection stability between the chair legs and the chair body, focus on testing whether the rotation and tilting functions are smooth, to avoid the risk of tipping due to the shift in the center of gravity caused by the increased height.

  4. Replace with heightened backrest components
Keep the original chair frame and only replace the backrest part (confirm that the connection method between the backrest and the seat cushion is detachable). The heightened backrest can usually be extended by 10-20cm. Ensure that the curvature of the newly added part is consistent with that of the original backrest to maintain the continuity of the lumbar support area and the scapular support area. If the original chair is made of mesh fabric, select replacement mesh fabric with a matching elastic modulus to avoid local sagging due to tension differences.

Modification precautions: Before modification, evaluate the material of the chair body (for example, a plastic chair body may have insufficient load-bearing capacity due to heightening), and after modification, conduct dynamic tests (such as simulating forward and backward tilting, rotation, etc.) to ensure there is no abnormal shaking or abnormal noise. If structural modifications are involved, it is recommended to consult professional furniture repair personnel first.
