Explosion-Proof Office Chair
Whether an explosion-proof office chair is necessary requires a comprehensive assessment based on actual circumstances and cannot be generalized.

On one hand, regular-brand office chairs typically do not require additional explosion-proof plates. The gas cylinders used in regular-brand office chairs are generally filled with nitrogen, which has stable chemical properties and can effectively reduce the risk of explosion. At the same time, the wall thickness of regular gas cylinders adheres to strict standards. For example, the wall thickness of a Leite Grade 3 gas cylinder reaches 2.0mm, while experiments have shown that only gas cylinders with a wall thickness of less than 1.0mm have a probability of rupture and explosion. Many well-known office chair brands, such as Herman Miller and Okamura, strictly follow safety standards in the design and production of their products. Under normal use, there is no risk of gas cylinder explosion, so most of these brands' products are not equipped with explosion-proof plates.
On the other hand, explosion-proof design also has its significance. The lifting column in the middle of an office chair may develop cracks after long-term use or when subjected to external impact. If this happens, the enormous air or oil pressure inside the lifting column may cause the metal column to burst open, generating an explosive force similar to that of an explosive device. Without an explosion-proof steel plate, the fragments and gas produced by the explosion may penetrate the seat plate and harm the user. Therefore, adding an explosion-proof steel plate can, to a certain extent, resist potential explosions and provide additional safety protection for the user. In addition, some office chairs with explosion-proof bases offer more stable support through special designs and structures. Even in the event of an accident, the chair will not suddenly collapse, further ensuring the safety of the user.
For consumers, if they choose office chairs from regular brands, the safety performance of these chairs is already relatively high, and there is no need to worry excessively about gas cylinder explosions. However, if they have high safety requirements or are concerned about the occurrence of accidents, they can also choose office chairs with explosion-proof designs to increase safety protection.
