Materials of Employee Office Chairs

Admin October 11, 2026

Common materials for employee office chairs include ramie, mesh fabric, leather, genuine leather, artificial leather (PU leather), and linen-velvet fabric, etc..

For office chairs made of ramie material, ramie is a natural fiber material with good breathability. In office settings, when employees sit on chairs for long periods, materials with good breathability can keep the skin dry, reduce the feeling of stuffiness, and enhance comfort. Moreover, ramie material is relatively eco-friendly, meeting the current demand for green office supplies. However, the abrasion resistance of ramie material may be relatively weak, and care should be taken during daily use to avoid contact with sharp objects to prevent scratches.

Mesh fabric office chairs are very common among employee office chairs. Mesh fabric has excellent breathability. Its unique mesh structure allows air to circulate freely, effectively dissipating the heat and moisture generated by the human body. Even during long hours of office work, employees can stay refreshed. At the same time, mesh fabric has a certain degree of elasticity, enabling it to deform to a certain extent according to the sitting posture and pressure of the human body, providing good support for the body and reducing physical fatigue. In addition, mesh fabric is relatively lightweight, facilitating the movement and adjustment of the chair.

Leather office chairs give a sense of high-end and elegance. The surface of leather is smooth, with a soft texture and a comfortable touch, enhancing the overall quality of the office environment. Leather has a certain degree of abrasion resistance and dirt resistance, and daily cleaning is relatively easy, requiring only a wipe with a damp cloth. However, the breathability of leather material is relatively poor, and in hot environments, prolonged use may make employees feel stuffy.

Genuine leather is usually used in relatively high-end employee office chairs such as executive chairs. Genuine leather has natural textures and a soft touch. Its breathability is superior to that of ordinary leather, providing users with an ultimate comfortable experience. Moreover, genuine leather material is durable and will gradually develop a unique patina over time, adding charm to the chair. However, genuine leather material is relatively expensive and requires regular maintenance to keep it in good condition.

Artificial leather (PU leather) office chairs are substitutes for leather and are relatively more affordable. They have a similar appearance and texture to leather and can to a certain extent meet employees' needs for aesthetics and comfort. Artificial leather also has good abrasion resistance and dirt resistance, and is easy to clean. However, compared with genuine leather, its breathability and durability are slightly inferior.

Linen-velvet fabric is commonly seen in executive chairs and can also be used in employee office chairs. Linen-velvet fabric is soft in texture and comfortable to the touch. It has a certain degree of warmth retention, making it suitable for use in office environments with lower temperatures. At the same time, linen-velvet fabric has good sound-absorbing properties, reducing noise interference in the office environment and creating a relatively quiet working atmosphere for employees.
