Dormitory Office Chair Cleaning
Admin October 13, 2026
The cleaning of dormitory office chairs requires targeted methods based on the material. Here are the specific steps:

I. Cleaning Mesh Office Chairs
Mesh materials are prone to trapping dust and have a complex structure, necessitating thorough cleaning with high-temperature extraction.
- Initial Dust Removal: Use a vacuum cleaner (equipped with a soft-bristle brush head) to gently suction along the mesh texture, removing surface dust and particles. Avoid direct wiping to prevent dust from embedding into the mesh holes.
- Stain Dissolution: Dilute a neutral detergent in a 1:10 ratio and spray it onto the stains. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes to allow the detergent to penetrate and dissolve oil or sweat stains.
- High-Temperature Extraction: Use a sauna machine or high-temperature steam cleaner to alternately extract dirt from the mesh, controlling the temperature between 60-80โ. This effectively kills bacteria and dissolves deep-seated grime. Repeat the extraction 2-3 times to ensure no detergent residue remains.
- Drying: Immediately use a water extractor to remove moisture or press with a dry towel to absorb water. Avoid natural air-drying to prevent mesh deformation. After cleaning, it is recommended to cover the chair with a breathable dust cover to reduce the frequency of subsequent cleanings.
II. Cleaning the Casters
Casters are prone to hair entanglement and dust accumulation, requiring regular maintenance to ensure smooth operation.
- Hair Removal: Use small scissors to cut through entangled hair along the axis of the wheels one by one, avoiding forceful pulling that could damage the wheel axle.
- Dirt Transfer: Wet a used facial towel, wring it out until semi-dry, wrap it around the wheels with the textured side facing out, and secure it with a rubber band. Push the chair back and forth 5-10 times to transfer dirt through friction onto the towel.
- Long-Term Dirt Prevention: Wrap the surface of the wheels with invisible tape (2-3cm wide). The tape's adhesiveness should be moderate, capable of adhering to dust while being easy to peel off and replace. After wrapping, test the chair's sliding ability to avoid excessive slipperiness that could pose safety hazards.
III. Supplementary Cleaning for Other Materials
- Fabric Chairs: Gently wipe stained areas with a slightly damp towel. For stubborn stains, apply a diluted detergent locally with a damp towel. After cleaning, use a dry towel to absorb moisture and prevent mildew.
- Leather Chairs: Wipe dust off with a soft, dry towel following the grain. For stains, gently wipe with a damp towel (water temperature โค30โ) and let it air-dry naturally. Avoid exposure to sunlight or using a hairdryer to accelerate drying, which could cause the leather to crack.
- Solid Wood Chairs: Wipe surface dust with a dry cotton cloth and clean crevices with cotton swabs. For oil stains, apply a small amount of neutral detergent, let it sit for 2 minutes, then wipe dry. Regularly apply wood wax oil for maintenance.
Precautions: Before cleaning, confirm the chair's material label to avoid using strong acid or alkaline detergents. When operating high-temperature equipment, wear protective gloves to prevent burns.
