Dismantling Office Chairs
Dismantling office chairs can be accomplished through methods such as manual disassembly, rubber mallet tapping, or without using specialized tools, depending on the chair's structure. Here are detailed disassembly steps and precautions:

Manual Disassembly Method is suitable for office chairs with simple structures and loose connectors. First, invert the chair and observe the bottom structure. Typically, the chair legs are fixed to the gas lift via clips or screws. If connected by clips, grasp the interface between the chair legs and gas lift with both hands and pull in opposite directions, using leverage to separate the clips. If fixed by screws, locate the hidden screw holes (some chairs have screw holes covered by plastic caps, which need to be pried open with a fingernail or thin piece), and use a Phillips screwdriver to rotate the screws counterclockwise until fully loosened, then separate the chair legs from the gas lift. When disassembling the chair back, check the connection method between the chair back and seat cushion, commonly either a pin-type or screw-fixed connection. For a pin-type connection, simply lift the chair back upwards while using the other hand to press the clips on the edge of the seat cushion. For a screw-fixed connection, use the corresponding screwdriver to remove the fixing screws, ensuring to keep the screws and washers safe to avoid loss.
Rubber Mallet Tapping Method is suitable for situations where connectors are rusted or clips are too tight. Prepare a rubber mallet (avoid using a metal hammer to prevent damage to the chair surface), invert the chair, and gently tap the connection between the chair legs and gas lift with the mallet to loosen the clips through vibration. Control the force when tapping to avoid excessive force causing deformation of the gas lift or breakage of the chair legs. If the connection between the chair back and seat cushion is too tight, wrap the connection area with a towel before tapping to reduce damage to plastic parts, and use the other hand to stabilize the seat cushion to prevent the entire chair from moving.
Disassembly Method Without Specialized Tools is for ergonomic chairs without screw designs, typically relying on elastic clips or plastic pins for fixation. When disassembling, first observe the joints of the chair components to locate the hidden clips or pins. For example, the armrests of some ergonomic chairs are connected to the seat cushion via plastic pins. Insert a fingernail or thin piece into the gap between the pin and seat cushion and gently pry to detach the pin from the slot. When disassembling the elastic clips between the chair back and seat cushion, press the plastic pieces on both sides of the clips simultaneously with both hands. After hearing a 'click' sound, lift the chair back upwards to separate it. Pay attention to applying force evenly during disassembly to avoid breaking the clips due to excessive local force.
Precautions: Before disassembly, it is recommended to take photos of the entire chair and the connection areas of each component for reference during subsequent reassembly. If encountering stubborn connectors during disassembly, spray a small amount of WD-40 lubricant (avoiding fabric parts), wait for 5-10 minutes, and then attempt disassembly again. All disassembled small parts such as screws and clips should be stored separately to avoid loss.
