Dismantling Office Chair Headrest
The method for dismantling an office chair headrest depends on its type. Here are the common types and their dismantling steps:

1. Snap-button headrest
- Locate the unlocking point: Observe the connection area between the headrest support and the seat backrest. Usually, there are buttons, wrenches, or snap-button mechanisms on the side, bottom, or near the top of the backrest.
- Press and pull out: Use one hand to firmly press the unlocking button or open the snap button and keep it pressed. With the other hand, hold both sides of the headrest and pull it straight up evenly. The movement should be steady to avoid shaking from side to side. If there is significant resistance, adjust the seat backrest to a reclined angle to change the force on the internal snap button, making it easier to pull out.
2. Pin/screw-fixed headrest
- Check the fixing points: Directly examine the connection area between the base of the headrest support and the backrest. If it is fixed with screws, prepare the corresponding screwdriver. If it is fixed with pins, you may need to first pull the headrest up a short distance to expose the pin holes.
- Remove the fixing components: Use a screwdriver to turn the screws counterclockwise to loosen and remove them, or directly pull out the pins. Keep the small parts safe.
- Pull out upwards: After removing the physical fixings, pull the headrest straight up.
3. Velcro headrest This type of headrest is often found on simple office chairs or auxiliary headrests. The back of the headrest is attached to the backrest with a large area of Velcro. Simply tear off the Velcro to remove the headrest without any tools.
4. Hidden (requiring back panel removal) headrest
- Loosen the back panel: Adjust the seat backrest to a reclined position. Use your hand to feel around the bottom of the back of the seat to find and loosen the buckles or Velcro that fix the back panel.
- Find the locking mechanism: The subsequent steps depend on the specific design. Usually, you need to find the locking mechanism and unlock it to remove the headrest.
5. Sihoo Office Chair A1 headrest Locate the fixing device (which could be screws or snap buttons) that connects the headrest to the chair back. Use the corresponding tool (such as a screwdriver or wrench) to release the fixing device and then gently pull out the headrest.
6. Some general office chairs The fixing screws for the headrest are usually located on both the left and right sides, a total of 2. Use a screwdriver or wrench to turn the screws counterclockwise to loosen them. After fully loosening them, gently remove the headrest.
Precautions:
- Ensure the seat is stable (such as locking the wheels) before dismantling to avoid tipping over.
- Most dismantling processes do not require tools, but if you see screws, prepare the corresponding screwdriver or Allen wrench.
- The safest way is to refer to the product manual, as different brands or new models may have special designs.
