Dismantling Adjustable Office Chair

Admin October 14, 2026

The adjustable office chair can be dismantled following these steps:

I. Prepare Tools

Prepare a hammer, preferably a rubber hammer, as it is less likely to damage the paint on the components when striking. If using a regular hammer, place a towel on the striking area to prevent the paint from being scratched.

II. Dismantle the Base Plate

  1. Turn the chair upside down and lay it on the ground. Locate the screws that secure the bottom tray and remove them using appropriate tools to separate the bottom tray from the seat cushion.
  2. Hold the chair upside down with one hand and strike specific areas of the base plate with a rubber hammer. After several continuous strikes, the connection between the base plate and other parts of the chair will gradually loosen, eventually allowing for separation.

III. Remove the Gas Cylinder

  1. If the chair leans to one side, there may be an issue with the gas rod. In this case, turn the chair upside down and strike the bottom of the gas rod flatly with the side of the hammer. Be sure to use a flat surface and avoid touching the button in the middle of the gas rod. If the button is higher than the bottom of the rod, do not strike it.
  2. Another method is to place the seat cushion upside down, fix it by stepping on it with your foot, then grab the base plate with your hand, shake it left and right, and pull the gas rod upward with force. If the gas rod is tightly connected to the base plate and difficult to remove, use pliers and a hammer to assist in disassembly. Be careful when striking to avoid injury. You can also apply an appropriate amount of lubricant to the connection and wait for a while before attempting to disassemble it again, which will reduce the difficulty of disassembly.
  3. You can also raise the gas rod to its highest position, hold the seat cushion with one hand, press the lift lever with the other hand, and shake it several times to remove the gas rod. If it is difficult to separate the base and the gas rod, turn the chair feet upside down and strike them out with a rubber hammer. If you don't have a rubber hammer, you can strike them with a wooden board underneath.

IV. Dismantle the Base

Turn the adjustable chair over so that the base is facing up. Strike around the steel ring of the base with a rubber hammer, then try to pry the base. The base can be separated from the gas rod. If it fails to separate successfully on the first attempt, try several more times.

V. Remove the Wheels

The wheels can generally be removed by simply pulling them out forcefully.

During the disassembly process, always pay attention to safety and proceed step by step in a certain order. For tightly connected and difficult-to-disassemble parts, use lubricant to assist in disassembly. Store the disassembled parts properly for subsequent installation or disposal.
