Disassembly of Pneumatic Office Chair
Admin October 09, 2026
Disassembling a pneumatic office chair mainly involves removing the pneumatic rod. You can refer to the following two methods:

Method 1: Direct Shaking and Pulling Out Method
- Adjust the seat position: Step on one side of the chair legs with your foot, adjust the seat depth to the innermost position, and raise the seat cushion to the highest position. This operation can increase the loose space between the seat and the pneumatic rod, facilitating subsequent disassembly.
- Pull out the seat cushion: Grasp the seat cushion directly above the pneumatic rod with both hands, shake it vigorously from side to side to loosen the connection between the seat cushion and the pneumatic rod, and then pull out the seat cushion upwards.
- Remove the casters: Flip the chair legs over and pull out the casters vertically at a 90-degree angle. The connection between the casters and the chair legs is usually quite tight, requiring significant force.
- Take out the pneumatic rod: Place a hard object, such as an iron block or brick, on the ground, align the bottom of the pneumatic rod with the hard object, and strike the pneumatic rod forcefully to knock it out of the chair legs. Be careful to strike with even force to avoid damaging the pneumatic rod or the chair legs.
Method 2: Lubrication and Striking Disassembly Method
- Lubricate the connection between the seat and the pneumatic rod: First, evenly apply lubricant to the connection between the seat chassis and the pneumatic rod, and wait for the lubricant to penetrate for at least half an hour. The lubricant can reduce the friction between the components, making disassembly easier.
- Disassemble the seat: Use a rubber mallet to strike the four corners of the seat chassis evenly to gradually loosen the connection between the seat and the pneumatic rod. It is recommended to operate with two people, with one person striking and the other holding the seat to ensure safety.
- Lubricate the connection between the five-claw base and the pneumatic rod: Apply lubricant to the connection between the five-claw base and the pneumatic rod and wait for the lubricant to penetrate.
- Separate the pneumatic rod from the five-claw base: Strike the outer periphery of the bottom of the pneumatic rod with a rubber mallet to separate it from the five-claw base. Strike with a cloth in between to avoid paint peeling or cracking of the five-claw base.
- Install a new pneumatic rod: Reinstall the chair wheels onto the chair legs, align the new pneumatic rod with the holes in the five-claw base and the seat, and gently install it. Then perform a lifting test to check if the pneumatic rod is working properly.
