Disassembly of Office Chair Chassis
The disassembly of an office chair chassis can be carried out according to the following steps:

Step 1: Prepare Tools
You will need a hammer, preferably a rubber hammer, as its soft material makes it less likely to damage the chassis paint during striking. If a rubber hammer is not available, an ordinary iron hammer can be used as a substitute, but an additional towel will be required. Additionally, ensure that the work area has a flat floor to prevent the chair from tipping over and causing accidents.
Step 2: Separate the Seat Cushion from the Chassis
Invert the entire office chair so that the seat faces downward and the legs face upward on the floor. Observe the connection area between the chassis and the seat cushion, where you will typically find fixing screws (mostly cross-recessed or slotted screws). Use a screwdriver of the corresponding size to unscrew all the fixing screws one by one. If the screws are rusty and difficult to loosen, spray a small amount of rust remover or use a wrench to assist in applying force. After the screws are completely removed, gently shake the seat cushion to confirm that it is completely separated from the chassis, avoiding forced pulling that could damage the components.
Step 3: Disassemble the Chassis Body
Hold the chair legs with one hand to suspend the chassis (or have someone assist in holding the chair legs). Strike the protruding parts on the edge of the chassis (such as the connection point of the pneumatic rod or the reinforcing rib position) vertically with a rubber hammer. The striking force should be uniform and moderate to avoid excessive local force. If an iron hammer is used, place a towel between the hammer head and the chassis to prevent scratches on the paint. After striking 3-5 times, the connection between the chassis and the chair legs will gradually loosen due to vibration. At this point, try rotating the chassis left and right. If it still cannot be separated, continue striking until it is completely detached.
Precautions:
- Wear safety goggles before operation to prevent screws or metal fragments from flying into your eyes.
- Avoid striking precision components such as the pneumatic rod (lifting column) to prevent damage to the internal structure, which could render the chair unusable.
- If the chassis and chair legs are fixed by snap fasteners, insert a slotted screwdriver into the gap of the snap fastener and gently pry it open instead of striking it directly.
- Store the disassembled components separately to prevent the loss of small parts and facilitate subsequent assembly or repair.
By following the above steps, you can systematically complete the disassembly of an office chair chassis. Maintain patience during the operation to avoid component deformation due to excessive force.
