Disassembly of Office Chair Base
The disassembly of an office chair base should be carried out step by step according to its specific structure, with core steps including gas rod separation, five-star foot disassembly, and base plate removal. Safety precautions and the use of tools are required during operation.

1. Separation of the Gas Rod from the Base Plate
The gas rod is a key component connecting the base to the seat and should be handled first during disassembly. First, raise the gas rod to its highest position to expand the operating space and avoid obstruction during subsequent tapping. Use a rubber mallet or wooden hammer to gently tap the gas cap at the top of the gas rod to loosen it. If the gas cap is tightly secured, place a soft cloth underneath and tap it moderately with an iron hammer to avoid damaging the surface of the gas rod. Then, invert the chair (with the seat facing downwards), lift the gas rod so that its bottom is suspended in the air, and use a large iron hammer to tap evenly along the bottom edge of the gas rod until the connection between the gas rod and the base plate becomes loose. Maintain even force while tapping to avoid deformation of the gas rod or sudden release of internal air pressure, which could be dangerous. Once the gas rod has been loosened all around, slowly rotate and pull it out to complete the separation.
2. Modular Disassembly of the Five-Star Foot
The five-star foot, as the supporting structure of the base, is usually designed in a modular fashion for easy assembly and disassembly. If the five-star foot is fixed to the gas rod base with screws, use a screwdriver of the corresponding size (such as a Phillips or flat-head screwdriver) to loosen all the fixing screws counterclockwise and remove the five-star foot as a whole. If the five-star foot is connected with snap-fit fasteners, observe the position of the fasteners (usually at the junction between the center of the five-star foot and the gas rod base), and use a flat-head screwdriver or plastic pry bar to gently pry open the fasteners while slowly rotating the five-star foot to separate it from the base. Pay attention to the direction of the fasteners during disassembly to avoid excessive force that could break the plastic parts. For five-star feet that can be further disassembled (such as detachable wheels or legs), unscrew the wheel fixing screws or press the leg fasteners one by one to remove the components.
3. Final Removal of the Base Plate
The base plate is a core component connecting the seat to the gas rod, and its disassembly should be carried out according to its fixing method. If the base plate is fixed to the underside of the seat with screws, flip the chair to its upright position and use a screwdriver to unscrew all the connecting screws to separate the base plate from the seat. If the base plate and the gas rod are of an integrated design, remove the base plate directly after completing the gas rod separation. If the base plate is connected to the gas rod with threads, rotate the base plate counterclockwise until it is completely detached from the gas rod. Be cautious of possible residual lubricant or dust underneath the base plate during operation. It is recommended to wear gloves and clean the workbench.
Precautions: Ensure the chair is in a stable state before disassembly to avoid tipping over. Choose tools of the appropriate size when using them to avoid slippage or damage to components. If encountering components that are difficult to remove (such as rusted screws), spray a small amount of lubricant (such as WD-40) and wait for 5-10 minutes before proceeding with the operation.
