Disassembly of Deli Office Chair
Admin October 09, 2026
The disassembly of a Deli office chair mainly involves the removal of the wheels, and the appropriate method should be selected according to the wheel type, as detailed below:

Wheel Types and Disassembly Methods
- Snap-ring (elastic retaining ring) wheels
- Manual disassembly method: Hold the chair leg steady with one hand, press down lightly on the wheel axle with the other hand, and pull outward simultaneously. Utilize the recoil force of the snap ring to loosen it, allowing the wheel to slide out smoothly. During operation, ensure balanced pressure on the front and back to avoid bending or deforming the snap ring by pulling too hard.
- Tool-assisted method: If manual disassembly is difficult, use a thin pair of tweezers, the tip of an old key, or a flat-head screwdriver to gently press against the inner side of the snap ring through the side gap of the wheel. At the same time, support the chair leg with one hand and pull the wheel downward with the other hand to remove it. Alternatively, use needle-nose pliers to firmly grip the metal bushing or plastic part connecting the top of the wheel to the base of the five-star foot. Using the plastic edge of the five-star foot as a fulcrum, pry outward forcefully while rotating the wheel counterclockwise with your wrist. If the outer plastic sleeve of the wheel separates from the inner metal axle, continue to use the pliers to find new leverage points and repeat the prying and rotating actions until the entire axle is completely removed from the footrest. If the wheel is very tight, try tapping the side or connection point of the wheel lightly with a rubber mallet. The resulting vibration can help loosen the snap ring.
- Threaded (screw-type) wheels
- Direct rotation disassembly: Use a screwdriver or wrench of the appropriate size to grip the threaded rod at the bottom of the wheel and rotate it counterclockwise to unscrew it.
- Screw-fixed wheel disassembly: Use a Phillips screwdriver to align with the screw in the center of the wheel and rotate it counterclockwise to completely unscrew it. After the screw is removed, hold the wheel with your hand and pull it straight upward gently to remove the old wheel. If it is still a bit tight, you can shake it slightly left and right to assist in pulling it out.
Preparation Before Disassembly
- Tool preparation: Prepare core tools such as needle-nose pliers and a Phillips screwdriver. A plastic pry bar or rubber mallet can provide assistance when dealing with stubborn wheels.
- Environment selection: Choose a spacious and well-lit space. Flip the chair over smoothly and ensure that the five-star foot is placed firmly facing upward to prevent the chair from sliding and facilitate the application of force.
Common Problem Handling
- Stuck wheels: Check if the wheel bearings are entangled with foreign objects. Use long scissors or bent-nose tweezers to clean them. If the wheel is still tight after removing foreign objects, try the "tapping vibration method". Tap the connection point from different angles with a rubber mallet or drip a small amount of lubricating oil (such as WD-40) into the gap of the metal bushing. Wait a moment and then try to pry it again.
- Broken plastic wheel during disassembly, with the metal axle still in the hole: Do not use brute force to pry at this time. Try tapping gently around the metal axle with a rubber mallet or use lubricating oil to soften the remaining part, and then use needle-nose pliers to remove it slowly.
