Dawn Office Chair Disassembly
Admin October 14, 2026
The disassembly of Dawn office chairs can be carried out according to the following steps, which are divided into two cases: common pneumatic rod models and other types:

Common Pneumatic Rod Models
- Preparation
- Prepare tools such as a cross or flat-head screwdriver, a wrench suitable for the screw type, a rubber mallet, and gloves.
- Move the chair to an open area and use your phone to take photos of the assembled state of the chair, focusing on recording the positions of screws and the connection methods of components for easy restoration later.
- Disassemble the Seat Cushion and Backrest
- Turn the chair over, find the connecting screws between the seat cushion and the base, and remove the seat cushion after unscrewing them with a screwdriver.
- If the backrest is connected to the base with snap fasteners, press the fasteners first and then lift the backrest to remove it; if the backrest is connected to the base with screws, unscrew the screws with a screwdriver and then remove the backrest.
- Separate the Base from the Pneumatic Rod
- Find the screws below the base and unscrew them with a suitable wrench to separate the base from the pneumatic rod.
- Separate the Pneumatic Rod from the Chair Base
- Since the chair base and the pneumatic rod are tightly fitted, place a towel at the bottom of the pneumatic rod and gently tap the bottom of the pneumatic rod with a rubber mallet to separate it from the base. Be careful not to use excessive force to avoid damaging the components.
- If you encounter rusty screws that are difficult to unscrew, you can drip some rust remover and let it sit for 5 minutes before trying to unscrew them again.
Other Types
- Disassemble in Order
- Chair Wheels: For most office chairs, the chair wheels are directly inserted into the slots of the chair legs. Hold the chair legs firmly with one hand and grasp the chair wheels with the other hand, and pull them out forcefully in a direction perpendicular to the slots.
- Pneumatic Rod and Base: For some chairs, the pneumatic rod and the base are fixed with snap rings or nuts. For a snap-ring structure, use snap-ring pliers to remove the snap ring; for a nut-fixed structure, unscrew the nut with a suitable wrench and then draw out the pneumatic rod.
- Chair Seat and Backrest: For the vast majority of office chairs, the chair seat and backrest are connected to the pneumatic rod with screws. Unscrew the screws with a screwdriver to separate them.
Precautions
- When disassembling the pneumatic rod of an office chair, do not operate violently to avoid high-pressure gas leakage and injury.
- The edges of metal components are sharp, so be sure to wear gloves when operating to prevent cuts.
- Put small components such as screws and nuts into a sealed bag and label their corresponding positions to prevent loss.
