Corner Placement of Office Chairs

Admin October 12, 2026

The placement of office chairs in corners requires consideration of multiple factors. Generally, it is not advisable to place office chairs directly in corners. If space constraints necessitate such placement, appropriate adjustments should be made.

From the perspective of Feng Shui, traditional Feng Shui theory suggests that office chairs should not be placed in corners. Corners are relatively enclosed spaces, and in Feng Shui philosophy, such layouts are not conducive to interpersonal communication and information exchange. Open spaces can make people feel more relaxed and motivated at work, while corners can easily create a sense of oppression, affecting work performance and the development of interpersonal relationships.

From the perspective of space utilization, if space is limited, setting up an office area in a bedroom corner is a viable option. Folding tables or wall-mounted tables can be installed to create an office space, which not only makes full use of the corner space but also does not occupy too much other indoor space. However, it is important to leave enough passage space to avoid affecting daily activities due to overcrowding and even causing safety hazards such as collisions.

From an ergonomic perspective, regardless of where the office chair is placed, comfort is crucial. Choosing an ergonomic chair is a good option. Its adjustable lumbar support can fit the curve of the lumbar spine, providing good support for the waist and reducing lumbar pressure. The adjustable armrests can support the arms while typing, preventing fatigue caused by arm suspension. In addition, it is recommended to keep the table height between 72 - 76 centimeters and adjust the chair to an angle of 110 - 135 degrees. This combination of angle and height can effectively reduce lumbar pressure, prevent lumbar diseases, and improve work comfort and efficiency. If the office chair must be placed in a corner, more attention should be paid to these ergonomic details to compensate for the potential inconveniences of the corner location.
