Usage of Company Office Chairs

Admin October 10, 2026

The correct usage of company office chairs includes adjusting the height, controlling the backrest recline force, maintaining a healthy sitting posture, taking regular breaks, and noting important precautions, as detailed below:

Adjusting the Height

The height adjustment function of most office chairs is controlled by a lever on the right side. While seated, gently lift the lever upwards to raise the seat and press it downwards to lower it. During adjustment, it is recommended to keep your buttocks on the seat and use your body weight to assist the operation, ensuring your knees are naturally bent at a 90-degree angle and your feet are flat on the ground, which is the most comfortable sitting height. Some pneumatic models require repeated up-and-down pumping of the lever to achieve height adjustment. If adjustment is difficult while seated, try standing and operating the chair to ensure the front of the chair is just below your knees.

Controlling the Backrest Recline Force

The backrest recline function is usually adjusted by a lever or knob on the left side. Lift the lever upwards to unlock the recline mode and press it down to lock it at a comfortable angle; advanced models may be equipped with a knob for adjusting the recline resistance by rotating it. Individuals with a heavier body weight are advised to tighten the resistance to prevent rapid recline; for those needing a lunch break relaxation, the resistance can be loosened to achieve a greater tilt angle.

Maintaining a Healthy Sitting Posture

  1. Leg Angle: Adjust the seat height so that your feet are completely flat on the ground, with your thighs and lower legs forming a 95-100 degree angle, avoiding knee suspension or excessive bending.
  2. Back Support: Sit with a slight backward lean (100-110 degrees), ensuring your waist is in contact with the backrest. If there is a lumbar support, adjust it to support the natural curve of your lumbar spine, reducing fatigue from prolonged sitting.
  3. Armrest Height: When your elbows are naturally hanging down, your forearms should be able to rest easily on the armrests or desk, with the angle between your upper and lower arms close to 100 degrees, avoiding stiffness in the shoulders and neck.
  4. Screen Height: Elevate the monitor so that your gaze is level with the top edge of the screen, reducing neck forward tilt.

Taking Regular Breaks

Perform simple stretches using the chair every 30 minutes:

  1. Hip Stretch: Sit on the edge of the chair, spread your feet apart, cross your ankles over to the opposite knee, and gently press your back forward and downward.
  2. Lower Back Release: Turn sideways towards the backrest, hold the backrest with your hand, and gently twist your body.
  3. Shoulder Opening Exercises: Sit upright, raise one arm over your head and tilt to the opposite side; or hold the backrest with both hands behind you and expand your shoulders.

Important Precautions

It is strictly prohibited to forciblyๆŽฐๅŠจ (should be 'manipulate' or 'adjust') the pneumatic rod while standing, as this operation may cause the pneumatic rod to break, posing a safety hazard. When adjusting functions, follow the design logic and avoid violent operations.
