Dimensions of Company Office Chairs

Admin October 11, 2026

The common dimension ranges for company office chairs are as follows, with different parameters corresponding to different ergonomic needs:

1. Seat Surface Dimensions
The seat length of fixed office chairs is typically 40 to 45 centimeters, suitable for most users with standard body types. For greater flexibility, adjustable seats are recommended, with a length range extendable to 38 to 48 centimeters. Adjustable designs can meet the leg support needs of users of different heights. For example, taller individuals can extend the seat to avoid thighs hanging in the air, while shorter individuals can shorten the seat to keep their feet flat on the ground.

2. Seat Height
Seat height directly affects user posture and leg comfort, with a standard range of 40 to 50 centimeters. This height should match the height of the office desk: when the user sits upright, the desktop should be level with the natural bend of the elbow to avoid arm suspension or excessive elevation. Adjustable-height office chairs (such as pneumatic lift models) can be personalized to fit users of different heights. For example, individuals under 170 centimeters tall are advised to choose the lower range of 40 to 45 centimeters, while those over 180 centimeters tall may need the higher range of 45 to 50 centimeters.

3. Seat Width
Seat width should ensure sufficient space for the user's hips and the sides of the thighs, with a standard range of 45 to 55 centimeters. This dimension design should consider differences in user body types: leaner individuals can choose 45 to 50 centimeters to meet their needs, while wider individuals may need 50 to 55 centimeters to avoid a cramped feeling. Additionally, seat width should coordinate with backrest width to ensure overall support stability.

4. Seat Depth
Seat depth affects thigh support, with a standard range of 35 to 45 centimeters. Ideally, when the user sits upright, the back should be fully against the backrest, while maintaining a gap of about 2 to 3 finger widths between the back of the thighs and the front edge of the seat to avoid compressing blood vessels and nerves behind the knees. Office chairs with adjustable seat depth can adapt to users of different leg lengths through a sliding design. For example, individuals with longer legs may need to extend the depth to 40 to 45 centimeters, while those with shorter legs may need to shorten it to 35 to 40 centimeters.

5. Backrest Height
Backrest height falls into two categories:

  • Medium Backrest: Typically does not exceed waist level, covering the range from the waist to the shoulders, suitable for daily office scenarios, providing basic support for the waist and back.
  • High Backrest: Commonly found in executive office chairs, extending to the head or neck, with a more complex design that may include additional features such as headrests and lumbar supports, suitable for long meetings or scenarios requiring reclining for rest.
