Color Clay Office Chair

Admin October 11, 2026

The color clay office chair can be made through three methods: creating a sofa chair, a handmade swivel chair, and a personalized seat. Here are the specific steps:

Making a sofa chair requires yellow clay as the base material. First, take an appropriate amount of yellow clay and press it into a thick round cake as the seat. Then, roll out long strips of clay and flatten them, adjusting the curvature to form the shape of the backrest, and combine and fix the seat and backrest. Next, use cotton swabs to cut out four equally long small sticks as the้›ๅฝข (prototype) of the chair legs, insert toothpicks to adjust them to the appropriate height, and then fix them to the bottom of the seat. To make the cushion, mix out light yellow clay and roll it into a ball, press it with an acrylic plate to create fine textures, roll it into a thin sheet, cut it into a rectangle, and press on stripe decorations. Finally, cover the cushion on the seat. When assembling the various components, ensure that the connection points fit tightly to avoid looseness.

Making a handmade swivel chair requires pink color clay. First, roll the clay into a circle and flatten it, then use a plastic knife to cut it into a square as the chair seat. Roll out clay in the shape of a door, then cut marks to simulate the connection structure of the swivel chair, and paste it on the back of the chair seat. On both sides of the chair seat, paste four rolled small strips as armrest supports, and then paste two flattened small strips on top to strengthen the structure. For the rotating part of the swivel chair, roll out three small strips and one small circle, evenly connect the strips to the edge of the circle to form a bracket, and then paste a cylindrical rotating shaft in the center of the bracket and complete the assembly at the connection point with the back of the chair seat. When operating, pay attention to the proportional coordination of the various components to avoid an unstable center of gravity due to size differences.

Making a personalized seat can combine hard materials with color clay. If using materials such as density board, first cut out the basic shape of the seat; if shaping directly with color clay, adjust the outline through repeated kneading. When making the backrest, first draw a design on paper and cut it out, then wrap the rolled-out thin clay around the surface of the hard backrest model and use toothpicks to carve textures. The chair legs can be pressed with a mold to create patterns or hand-shaped, and when pasting them to the bottom of the seat, ensure that the four legs are on the same plane. During the decoration stage, you can wrap gold color clay strips along the edge of the seat or use acrylic paint for coloring. After drying, check the firmness of the various components.

For all three methods, pay attention to the drying time of the color clay to avoid deformation when moving it before it is completely cured. If long-term preservation is required, it is recommended to use a low-temperature oven to bake or air-dry naturally and then apply a transparent varnish for protection.
