Coffin-Shaped Office Chair
The “Last Shift” coffin-shaped office chair is a unique product designed by Chairboxdesign, a designer from London, UK. It is introduced from three aspects: design features, design intentions, and design significance:

Design Features:
The exterior design of this chair strictly adheres to the shape and lines of a typical coffin, presenting a unique and eye-catching overall appearance. Its internal structure is made of wood, offering a variety of color options such as natural wood, brown wood, and mahogany, catering to different users' aesthetic preferences while ensuring the chair's sturdiness and durability. Additionally, the chair is equipped with two convenient handles, a design that not only facilitates users in moving the chair but also enhances its usability and comfort.
Design Intentions:
The designer had a sudden inspiration while working overtime, considering how inconvenient it would be if he were to die from overwork and be placed in a coffin in the sitting position at his workstation. Thus, he came up with the design concept of integrating a coffin and a workstation, aiming to create an office chair that is both practical and symbolic. This design not only showcases the designer's creativity and sense of humor but also reflects his profound insights into modern workplace life.
Design Significance:
In addition to its unique appearance and practical functions, this coffin-shaped office chair also carries profound design significance. The designer hopes to raise awareness among workers about the importance of health through this design. Sitting motionless in an office for extended periods is considered a form of “slow suicide,” and the coffin shape visually conveys this message. It reminds people to pay attention to their physical health and avoid prolonged sitting, thereby prompting reflection and attention to workplace health issues.
