CNKI Office Chair

Admin October 09, 2026

China's office chair industry standard QB/T 2280 and international mainstream standards are relatively comprehensive in terms of indicator coverage, but there are still gaps in some indicators, and attention needs to be paid to safety risks.

I. Comparison of Domestic and International Standards China's office chair industry standard QB/T 2280 primarily regulates the mechanical properties, safety, and environmental protection requirements of products. Mechanical properties cover aspects such as backrest strength, armrest durability, and seat impact testing to ensure the chair's structural stability during normal use. Safety requirements include edge chamfering and small-part anti-detachment designs to prevent user injuries. Environmental protection aspects limit the release of harmful substances such as formaldehyde and heavy metals.

Compared with international standards, QB/T 2280 has a relatively comprehensive indicator coverage, but there are differences in some indicators. For example, the American standard ANSI/BIFMA X5.1 has higher requirements for the number of cycles in backrest dynamic fatigue testing, while the European standard EN 1335 series has stricter durability testing for seat edges. These differences reflect the considerations of different regions regarding the usage scenarios and user habits of office chairs, such as the greater emphasis on comfort for long-term office work in the European and American markets, while China's standards place more emphasis on basic safety and environmental protection.

II. Safety Risks Require Attention The safety risks of office chairs mainly involve structural stability, material toxicity, and mechanical injuries. For example, gas spring explosions are often caused by the use of inferior materials or over-service life; chair wheel detachment may scratch users; inferior plastic parts release harmful substances at high temperatures, and long-term exposure may be harmful to health.

To reduce risks, users should choose products certified by QB/T 2280 and regularly inspect the wear and tear of components such as gas springs and chair wheels. Enterprises need to strengthen raw material testing, avoid using recycled plastics or inferior metals, and optimize product designs, such as adding anti-tipping structures and using environmentally friendly coatings.

III. Directions for Standard Improvement In the future, China's office chair standards can further refine requirements for special scenarios, such as developing dedicated standards for็ป†ๅˆ†ๅธ‚ๅœบ (niche markets) like gaming chairs and children's study chairs. At the same time, efforts should be made to strengthen mutual recognition with international standards to promote the global reach of Chinese manufacturing.
