Cleaning Office Chair Equipment
Admin October 11, 2026
Cleaning office chair equipment requires targeted methods based on different components and materials. The specific operations are as follows:

I. Caster Cleaning
- Hair Entanglement Handling: Hair or fibers can easily get stuck in the gaps of the casters. Use small scissors or tweezers to remove them one by one. If the buckles are tight, use a flat-head screwdriver with a soft cloth to pry the edges for disassembly, avoiding scratches on the caster surface.
- Dirt Cleaning: Soak a used face towel, let it air-dry slightly, and then wrap it around the caster using its textured surface. Secure it with a rubber band. Move the chair back and forth to transfer the dirt onto the face towel. This method avoids the residue of cleaning agents.
- Deep Maintenance: After disassembling the casters, use a neutral detergent and an old toothbrush to scrub the bearing gaps. Rinse with water, dry them, and then apply 1-2 drops of special lubricant to the bearings to reduce friction. If the buckles are damaged, contact housekeeping personnel to replace them with special tools.
II. Seat Surface Cleaning
- Mesh Fabric Material: Handle it in steps:
- Brushing: Use a soft-bristled brush to gently sweep away surface dust, avoiding damage to the fibers;
- Pretreatment: Spray a neutral cleaner on local stains and let it sit for 5 minutes to soften the stains;
- Water Circulation Cleaning: Use low-temperature water with a soft-bristled brush to gently scrub, avoiding deformation of the mesh fabric due to high temperature;
- Steam Disinfection: Use a steam device to deeply sterilize the seat surface, keeping a distance of 10-15 centimeters to prevent burns.
- Stubborn Stains: First, vacuum thoroughly to remove floating dust. Then, use a professional foam cleaner to penetrate the fibers. Let it sit for 10 minutes, wipe it with a soft cloth, and finally disinfect it with a high-temperature steam device. Note: Improper initial cleaning can easily lead to cleaner residue, increasing the difficulty of subsequent cleaning and even posing health risks.
III. Professional Maintenance Recommendations
- Regular Maintenance: Clean the casters and lubricate the bearings monthly to prevent deformation of the bearings due to heavy objects. When not in use for a long time, it is recommended to cover them with a dust cover.
- Material Adaptation: For leather seat surfaces, use a special leather cleaner and avoid alcohol or strong acid-base solutions. For fabric seat surfaces, avoid excessive moisture to prevent mold.
- Safety Tips: Disconnect the power before cleaning (such as for electric office chairs) to avoid sudden movement of the casters during disassembly, which may cause bumps.
