Cleaning Mesh Office Chair

Admin October 17, 2026

Cleaning a mesh office chair requires separate steps for the overall seat surface and the wheels. Here are the specific steps:

I. Seat Surface Cleaning Steps

  1. Vacuuming
Use a vacuum cleaner to thoroughly remove dust from the seat surface, paying special attention to the dust accumulated in the mesh gaps. If a vacuum cleaner is not available, use a feather duster or a soft-bristled brush to gently pat the surface to prevent dust from flying around.

  2. Spraying Cleaner
Dilute a neutral cleaner according to the ratio and pour it into a spray bottle. Spray it evenly on the seat surface. Avoid using strongly alkaline or corrosive cleaners to prevent damage to the mesh material or fibers.

  3. Stain Removal
After spraying, let it sit for 5-10 minutes to allow the cleaner to fully penetrate and break down the stains. If the stains are stubborn, use a soft-bristled brush to gently scrub the surface to assist in cleaning.

  4. Extraction and Brushing

    • With equipment: Use a steam cleaner or a high-temperature cleaning machine to alternately extract twice to thoroughly remove deep-seated dirt.
    • Without equipment: Dip a soft-bristled brush into the diluted cleaner and gently brush along the mesh texture to avoid excessive force that could deform the fibers.
  5. Blotting and Drying

    • With equipment: Use a water extractor to simultaneously remove residual moisture and speed up drying.
    • Without equipment: Use a dry towel to press and absorb water, or place it in a well-ventilated area to air dry naturally. Do not expose it to direct sunlight to prevent material aging. If quick drying is needed, use a hairdryer on the cool setting from a distance to avoid high-temperature damage.
  6. Maintenance Measures
After cleaning, you can put a breathable chair cover on the chair to protect the seat surface and enhance its appearance. Regularly check the wheels and armrests, and replace them promptly if any damage is found to extend the service life.

II. Wheel Cleaning Steps

  1. Disassembling the Wheels
Turn the chair upside down (with the seat surface facing down), and hold the wheel bracket with your hand and pull it outwards. If the snap fastener is tight, use a flat-head screwdriver with a soft cloth to gently pry the edge to avoid scratching the bracket.

  2. Removing Debris

    • Hair removal: Use tweezers to clamp out long hair or fibers from the gaps along the direction of wheel rotation to prevent further entanglement.
    • Surface cleaning: Use an old toothbrush dipped in a neutral detergent to gently brush the surface of the wheels and the bearing gaps to remove oil and dust.
    • Rinsing and drying: Rinse the wheels with clean water (avoid getting water into the bearings), wipe them dry with a dry cloth, and air dry them in a well-ventilated area for 10 minutes.
  3. Lubrication and Reassembly

    • Lubrication: Apply 1-2 drops of special lubricating oil for office equipment to the bearings and rotate the wheels to evenly distribute the oil. Avoid using cooking oil to prevent dust from being attracted and causing jamming.
    • Reassembly: Align the wheels with the bracket snap fasteners and push them in until you hear a "click" to confirm they are securely installed. Turn the chair upright and push it to test. If there is still jamming, recheck for debris residue.

By following these steps, you can systematically clean and maintain a mesh office chair to ensure its cleanliness and durability.
