Cleaning Fabric Office Chairs
Admin October 10, 2026
You can refer to the following methods for cleaning fabric office chairs:

I. Basic Cleaning
- Vacuuming: Use a vacuum cleaner to thoroughly remove dust from the seat surface, backrest, and stitching areas, paying special attention to the dust accumulated in the crevices. If a vacuum cleaner is not available, use a soft-bristled brush (such as a toothbrush) to gently brush the crevices, loosen the dust, and then clean it up.
- Daily Stain Removal:
- Ordinary Fabric: Wipe the fabric surface with a soft cloth dampened with water, then dip it in soapy water to gently scrub the stained area. For stubborn stains, use dishwashing detergent locally for focused cleaning. Finally, repeatedly wipe with a damp cloth until there is no residual foam, and dry it in a shaded place to avoid fading caused by exposure to the sun.
- Velvet Fabric: Avoid direct contact with water. Apply dry-cleaning solution, cover with a damp towel, and iron with a low-temperature iron (a towel should be placed between the iron and the fabric) to dissolve the stains through steam.
II. Use of Specialized Cleaners
- Sofa/Carpet Cleaner: Choose a specialized cleaner labeled as suitable for fabric. Spray it on the stained area and gently scrub with a soft-bristled brush to allow the cleaner to penetrate the fibers. After scrubbing, use a dry fiber towel to absorb the residual liquid to prevent moisture from seeping into the internal frame and causing deformation or shrinkage.
- Fabric Cleaner: Spray it directly on the seat surface, use a brush to evenly brush the cleaner into the material, and focus on treating stubborn stains. After that, wipe it clean with a dry towel, paying special attention to hard-to-reach areas such as chair seams.
III. Cleaning for Different Materials
- Sponge Fabric Chairs:
- For daily dust removal, you can use a vacuum cleaner or pat the surface (such as patting with the palm of your hand or a clothes hanger).
- For stubborn stains, wring out a damp cloth, dip it in a water-based detergent, and repeatedly wipe it. Then use a dry cloth to absorb the moisture.
- Mesh Fabric Chairs:
- Prepare a soft-bristled toothbrush, cleaner, and damp towel. First, spray the cleaner on the stained area and let it sit for 1-5 minutes (extend the sitting time for stubborn stains).
- Wipe it clean with a damp towel, avoiding excessive force that may deform the mesh fabric.
Precautions: Confirm the fabric type before cleaning and avoid using strong acid or alkali cleaners. After cleaning, ensure thorough drying to prevent mildew. Regular cleaning can extend the service life of the chair. It is recommended to vacuum once a week and perform deep cleaning once a month.
