Clean Office Chair
Admin October 08, 2026
Cleaning an office chair can be divided into two parts: cleaning the casters and cleaning the entire chair. The specific methods are as follows:

Cleaning Office Chair Casters
- Hair Entanglement Handling: If hair is entangled around the casters, for a small amount of hair, use very small scissors to carefully cut it off. If there is a lot of hair, a disassembly cleaning method can be adopted. First, turn the office chair upside down, hold the caster bracket with your hand, and gently pull the caster outwards (most are designed with snap-on mechanisms and do not require tools; if it is tightly stuck, use a flat-head screwdriver with a soft cloth to gently pry the edge of the snap). After removing the caster, use tweezers to follow the rotation direction of the caster and pick out the long hairs and carpet fibers from the caster gaps one by one to prevent further entanglement of the hair.
- Dirt Cleaning: First, prepare a used face towel, wet it and then let it dry in the shade. Use the textured side to face the wheels, wrap the face towel around the wheels, and secure it with a rubber band. Sit on the chair and move it back and forth, and the dirt on the wheels will rub onto the face towel. Second, use an old toothbrush dipped in a small amount of neutral detergent (avoid using strong alkaline cleaners to prevent corrosion of the casters), gently brush the surface of the casters and the gaps in the bearings to remove residual dust and oil stains. Then rinse the casters with clean water (be careful to avoid getting water into the bearing parts), dry them with a dry cloth, and let them dry in a well-ventilated place for 10 minutes.
- Subsequent Protection: Stick invisible tape on the wheels. The width of the tape should be appropriate, and the stickiness should be moderate so that there is almost no sticky feeling on the wheels after tearing it off. When sticking, do not make it too flat; a slightly wrinkled appearance can prevent the wheels from being too slippery.
- Lubrication and Reinstallation: After the casters are dry, drop 1 - 2 drops of special lubricating oil for office equipment at the bearings (avoid using cooking oil to prevent dust absorption), and turn the casters by hand to evenly distribute the lubricating oil. Then align the casters with the bracket snaps and gently push them in until you hear a 'click' sound to confirm that the casters are firmly installed. Finally, turn the office chair back upright and push the chair to test if the casters move smoothly. If there is still stuttering, check if there is any residual debris that has not been cleaned.
Cleaning the Entire Chair
- Comprehensive Dust Removal: Use a vacuum cleaner to suck up the floating dust on the surface of the office chair and the debris in the gaps. This is the basic step for overall cleaning.
- Applying Professional Foam: Use a professional cleaner to create foam and let the cleaner fully penetrate into the fixed fibers to better remove stains.
- High-Temperature Equipment Treatment: Use high-temperature equipment to treat the office chair, which can not only disinfect but also further clean it.
- Proper Wiping: When wiping the chair, follow the order of the backrest, seat cushion, armrests, and chair legs, wiping from top to bottom without missing any parts. The cloth must be slightly damp and not dripping with water to prevent water stains from remaining.
