Clay Sculpture Office Chair
Admin October 08, 2026
When making office chairs with clay sculptures, you can refer to the following two common methods:

Making a Small Chair with Decorations Using Super Light Clay
- Preparing Materials: You will need red and white super light clay, as well as auxiliary tools such as a black paintbrush and a craft knife.
- Making the Seat: Take some white clay, roll it into a ball, and gently flatten it into a circular or square shape with a board to serve as the seat of the chair.
- Making the Chair Legs: Roll three balls of white clay and then shape them into thick strips to serve as the chair legs. Mix red and white clay to create pink, and roll three smaller balls to attach to the lower ends of the chair legs as decorations.
- Decorating the Chair Body: Roll pink clay into thin strips and wrap them around the upper edge of the chair, using a tool to create a scalloped edge. Use a black paintbrush to draw the eyes and mouth of a bunny, and attach small pink blush marks.
- Adding a Bow: Roll two small teardrop shapes out of pink clay and flatten them, then roll a small ball of white clay. Combine them to form a bow and attach it to the chair.
- Making a Personalized Seat
- Preparing the Base: Cut out the shape of the seat from a density board or other hard material (e.g., with a front width of 5 cm, side width of 3 - 4 cm, and height of 9 cm), or shape it directly with clay.
- Making the Backrest: If a backrest is needed, first draw its shape on paper and cut it out. Then, wrap a thinly rolled piece of clay around a hard backrest model, ensuring it is thicker in the middle and thinner on the sides.
- Making the Chair Legs: Use a mold or shape the chair legs by hand (e.g., cylindrical or square shapes) and attach them to the bottom of the seat.
- Decorating and Coloring: Decorate the edges with golden clay strips or color the seat with paint to add details and enhance its appearance.
Making an Office Chair Using Oil Clay and Fine Wire
- Selecting Materials: Oil clay is easy to shape and has good fixing properties, while fine wire is used to shape the basic structure of the chair.
- Making Steps
- Building the Framework: Bend the fine wire into the desired chair outline, ensuring the shape is stable as it forms the basis of the chair's structure.
- Covering with Oil Clay: Cover the wire with oil clay and use appropriate tools to smooth the surface, enhancing the chair's appearance and structural stability.
- Creative Design: Unleash your creativity during the making process by adding special design elements, such as interesting patterns on the back of the chair, soft curves on the seat, and experimenting with different color combinations.
- Adding Details: Carve textures on the chair legs and add decorative patterns to the back of the chair to further enhance its overall texture.
