Height of Children's Office Chairs

Admin October 14, 2026

The height of children's office chairs should be flexibly adjusted according to age and height, with a common range of 20-46 centimeters, and specific choices should be made based on individual developmental conditions.

The height design of children's office chairs should follow ergonomic principles to ensure that children sit upright and avoid problems such as spinal curvature and muscle fatigue caused by chairs that are too high or too low. Based on differences in age and height, chair heights can be divided into the following two reference standards:

1. Age-Based Segmentation Reference For children in kindergarten (ages 3-6), whose heights generally range from 90-120 centimeters, it is recommended to choose chairs that are 25-30 centimeters high. At this stage, children's bones are relatively soft; chairs that are too high can cause their feet to dangle, pressing on the blood vessels in their thighs; chairs that are too low require them to bend over, increasing pressure on the spine. For children in primary school (ages 6-12), whose heights increase to 110-150 centimeters, the chair height needs to be raised to 30-38 centimeters. At this time, children begin to study at desks for long periods, and the chair height needs to match the desk height (usually 70-75 centimeters) to ensure that the elbows hang naturally and the eyes look straight ahead at the books.

2. Height-Based Precise Matching A more scientific adjustment method is to choose directly based on height:

  • Height โ‰ค 119 cm: 27 cm (feet flat on the ground, thighs parallel to the ground);
  • Height 113-127 cm: 29 cm (knees slightly bent, with waist support);
  • Height 120-134 cm: 30 cm (elbows bent at 90 degrees, arms naturally placed on the desk);
  • Height 128-142 cm: 32 cm (back straight, able to maintain sitting posture without relying on the chair back);
  • Height 135-149 cm: 34 cm (soles of the feet completely in contact with the ground, avoiding leg suspension);
  • Height 143-157 cm: 36 cm (desk height level with the chest, reducing neck extension);
  • Height 150-164 cm: 38 cm (chair height close to adult standards, adapting to increased study intensity);
  • Height โ‰ฅ 158 cm: Refer to adult chair heights (40-46 cm), but prioritize adjustable models to accommodate rapid growth needs.

Additional Notes Some preschool children's chairs adopt a modular design, with seat heights arranged in equal increments of 200-340 millimeters (20-34 centimeters), suitable for staged adjustments for children aged 3-6. When purchasing, it is recommended to choose models with gas rods or removable pads for easy dynamic height adjustment according to the child's growth, extending the usage cycle.
