Office Chair Selection Guide

Admin October 08, 2026

When selecting an office chair, focus on four key aspects: load-bearing structure, mesh and cushion, moving parts, and after-sales service. Different models may have varying installation methods.

1. Load-Bearing Structure: The Core of Stability The load-bearing structure is the foundation of an office chair's safety. Pay special attention to the gas lift, base, and chair legs. Choose a gas lift that has passed international safety certifications (such as SGS, BIFMA) to avoid explosion risks due to abnormal pressure. The base should have sufficient thickness and strength to ensure no deformation during reclining or height adjustment. For chair legs, prioritize five-star aluminum alloy or nylon materials; the former offers stronger load-bearing capacity, while the latter is lighter but requires attention to thickness. When purchasing, request detection reports or specifications from the seller to avoid low-priced products without clear labels.

2. Mesh and Cushion: The Key to Comfort For the mesh, focus on elasticity, tension, and edge treatment. High-quality mesh should have high elasticity (quick rebound) and moderate tension (uniform support), with edges that are hemmed or reinforced to prevent fraying or loosening after long-term use. For the foam cushion, check the density (recommended 40kg/mยณ or higher) and support feel; low density can lead to sagging, while high density may be too hard. Test the rebound speed by pressing with your hand or sit to feel whether the pressure on your buttocks is evenly distributed.

3. Moving Parts: The Guarantee of Durability Armrests, reclining mechanisms, and height adjustment structures are frequently used parts. The armrests should adjust smoothly (e.g., height, angle, forward and backward sliding), with no looseness at the connections. Test the locking function of the reclining mechanism to ensure reliability and prevent sudden sliding during reclining. For the height adjustment structure, check whether the gas lift operates smoothly without jamming or abnormal noises. When purchasing, simulate daily use scenarios (e.g., repeatedly adjusting the armrests, reclining) for testing.

4. After-Sales Service: The Guarantee of Long-Term Use Before purchasing, clarify the warranty period (usually 1-5 years), the scope of wear-and-tear parts (e.g., gas lift, casters), and the repair method (whether free replacement or on-site service is provided). Some brands offer a 'replace without repair' service, which can be prioritized. Also, confirm whether the after-sales channels are accessible (e.g., official customer service, offline outlets) to avoid difficulties in subsequent repairs.

Installation Differences Among Different Models Take models 1033A and 1012A as examples: For 1033A, follow the video instructions for installation, using screw J (with a washer) to secure the base, screw L to reinforce the chair legs, and screw K to connect the armrests. For 1012A, first install the base casters, then secure the seat armrests (with screw C), and use screws D and E (with washers) on the inside to complete the base assembly. Before installation, be sure to read the instructions carefully or watch the video to avoid using the wrong screws and causing structural instability.
