Office Chair Cover Types

Admin October 22, 2026

Common types of office chair covers include genuine leather, regular PU or PVC leather, microfiber, as well as artificial leather (PU leather), linen fabric, or mesh fabric commonly used in executive chairs. Here is a detailed introduction:

Genuine Leather: Genuine leather is the highest-quality material for office chair covers, typically sourced from animal hides such as cowhide or sheepskin. It features a natural surface texture, a soft and elastic touch, and good breathability, providing a comfortable sitting experience. However, genuine leather is relatively expensive and has stringent environmental requirements for use. It is sensitive to water and sunlight, and prolonged exposure to moisture or direct sunlight can cause the leather to harden, fade, or even crack. Additionally, genuine leather requires regular maintenance, such as applying leather conditioner, to maintain its softness and luster; otherwise, it is prone to aging.

Regular PU or PVC Leather: These materials belong to synthetic leathers and are relatively inexpensive, making them common choices for office chair covers on the market. PU leather (polyurethane leather) and PVC leather (polyvinyl chloride leather) can mimic the texture of genuine leather in appearance but have a harder touch and poorer breathability. They have weak aging resistance and may crack or peel after two to three years of use, especially in high-temperature or humid environments where aging accelerates. Therefore, these materials are suitable for scenarios with limited budgets and low durability requirements.

Microfiber: Microfiber is a high-end category of synthetic leather, composed of ultrafine fibers and polyurethane resin. It offers excellent abrasion resistance and hydrolysis resistance, as well as better breathability than regular synthetic leathers, providing a comfort level close to that of genuine leather. Its price falls between genuine leather and regular PU or PVC leather, offering stable cost-effectiveness and making it an ideal choice for office chair covers. Microfiber is highly durable and resistant to cracking or peeling, suitable for long-term use.

Common Fabrics for Executive Chairs: As a broad category of office chairs, executive chairs offer a wider variety of fabric choices. In addition to the materials mentioned above, they often use artificial leather (PU leather), which has similar performance to regular PU leather but with finer craftsmanship, suitable for high-end needs; linen fabric, which has a natural texture and good breathability but is more difficult to clean; and mesh fabric, which is characterized by strong breathability and good elasticity, suitable for summer or prolonged use, but with relatively weaker support.
