Office Chair Adjustment
Admin October 14, 2026
The adjustment methods for office chairs mainly include recline adjustment, height adjustment, and headrest adjustment. The specific operations are as follows:

Recline Adjustment:
The recline function varies depending on the type of chair. Basic office chairs have limited recline capabilities, while mid-range office chairs typically control the recline angle through levers or knobs. High-end ergonomic chairs offer more precise adjustment options.
- Lever Adjustment System: Locate the adjustment lever on the right or left side beneath the seat, release the recline lock (if present), lean back, and adjust the lever to a comfortable angle. If the chair has a locking function, pull or push the lever again to lock the position after adjusting to the desired angle.
- Knob Adjustment System: Find the knob near the center of the lower seat close to the support column. Turn it clockwise to increase the resistance of the chair back when reclining, and counterclockwise to decrease it. Some chairs may have a separate knob for adjusting the recline angle; refer to the product manual for details.
- Pneumatic Adjustment System: The pneumatic lever is usually placed together with the height adjustment lever. Adjust the recline by pushing it in different directions. The pneumatic system provides a smooth adjustment experience. Gently pull the lever to adjust the chair back to a comfortable angle when using it.
When choosing a recline angle, select a smaller angle for focused work, a larger angle for relaxation and thinking, and an appropriate recline for short breaks to relax the back muscles and promote blood circulation. Precautions include ensuring that the chair's center of gravity is not too far back during adjustment to prevent tipping over and avoiding improper recline angles that may affect health.
Height Adjustment:
- Raising and Lowering the Chair: Sit on the chair, pull up the control lever or turn the knob to adjust the height. Pneumatic models can raise and lower the seat by pumping the lever. If it cannot be adjusted properly while sitting, stand up and adjust it so that the front of the chair is just below the knees.
- Choosing the Right Height for the Task: Keep your eyes level with the monitor when working on a computer. If the monitor height cannot be adjusted, adjust the seat height instead. Keep your elbows at desk height when working at a desk. When sitting for a long time, adjust the chair height so that your feet rest flat on the floor.
- Improving Safety and Comfort: If the chair has armrests, adjust their height. Remove or lower the armrests if arm support is not needed. Change your sitting position every 15-30 minutes. If the chair is too high, prepare a footrest.
Headrest Adjustment:
Taking the Qingxian Dynamic Ergonomic Chair as an example, the height of the headrest can be adjusted by directly lifting it, and there are corresponding operation methods for adjusting the front-back position. Refer to the product manual for details.
