Chair Caster Office Chair

Admin October 16, 2026

The casters of an office chair are one of its core components, and their cleaning, maintenance, and functional features are as follows:

Cleaning and Maintenance Tips

  1. Hair Removal: Casters are prone to getting tangled with hair. Use small scissors to carefully cut along the axle direction to avoid damaging the wheel structure. If the hair is tightly wound, first use tweezers or a fine hook to loosen it before gradually removing it.
  2. Dirt Cleaning: After dealing with the hair, wet a face towel and wring it out until it no longer drips. Wrap the caster with the towel and secure it with a rubber band. Move the chair back and forth to use the friction of the damp fibers to remove dust and stubborn stains from the gaps in the wheel. After cleaning, air-dry the face towel to prevent residual moisture from causing the wheel to rust.
  3. Floor Protection: To prevent the casters from bringing dirt onto the floor when moving, wrap invisible tape around the wheel surface (which needs to be replaced regularly). This method is especially suitable for carpets or wooden floors and can effectively reduce the frequency of cleaning.

Functional and Design Features

  1. Basic Structure: Casters (wheels) are usually used in conjunction with a five-star base and a pneumatic height-adjustment system to provide the office chair with mobility and height adjustment functions. The five-star base offers stable support, the pneumatic rod enables stepless height adjustment, and the casters ensure flexible rotation of the chair on a flat surface.
  2. Silent Design: Some high-end office chairs use silent casters. The wheel surface is covered with soft rubber or polyurethane material, which reduces friction noise with the floor and enhances user comfort. This design is particularly suitable for open office environments or places that require a quiet atmosphere.
  3. Load-Bearing and Durability: The load-bearing capacity of the casters directly affects the service life of the chair. High-quality casters are made of high-strength engineering plastics or metal bearings, which can withstand a weight of over 100 kg and maintain smooth rotation for a long time.

Precautions

  • Regularly check the tightening screws of the casters to prevent the chair from wobbling or the wheels from falling off due to looseness.
  • Avoid using the chair on uneven or damp floors for a long time to prevent wheel deformation or internal bearing rusting.
  • If the casters become stuck or make abnormal noises, add a small amount of lubricating oil (such as sewing machine oil) to the bearing area, but be careful not to get oil stains on the floor.
