Feng Shui of CEO's Office Chair

Admin October 11, 2026

There are many considerations regarding the feng shui of a CEO's office chair, involving aspects such as the chair's own characteristics, the environment behind it, and its orientation.

Chair's Own Characteristics

The CEO's office chair should be of a sturdy, stable, and imposing style. Such chairs can create a solid aura, in line with the feng shui requirement of being "stable in all four directions." Although chairs with wheels may seem convenient, in the concept of feng shui, they may harbor hidden risks of unstable career development. This is because the flexibility of the wheels can make the aura unstable, which is not conducive to the long-term and stable development of a career.

Environment Behind the Chair

There should be no path for others to pass behind the chair. The space should be narrow rather than wide. If the space behind is too wide and people frequently pass through, it will make the position unstable, affecting the leader's authority and status in the company. It is appropriate to place bookcases and ornamental cabinets behind the chair. Bookcases can add a cultural atmosphere and a sense of stability, while ornamental cabinets can serve as decorations and adjust the aura. However, it is not advisable to place display cabinets. This is because the position directly behind is the Xuanwu position. The Xuanwu (tortoise and snake) likes darkness and is prone to sleep, symbolizing having a backrest and being solid and stable. Display cabinets are usually relatively transparent, which is not conducive to creating such a stable aura.

Chair Orientation

Chairs with different orientations are suitable for different types of leaders. A seat facing east or southeast is suitable for young leaders who plan to start a new company or expand an existing one. This direction is full of vitality and opportunities. A seat facing southwest to northeast represents competition, wise investment, and challenging work, suitable for leaders of mining and other institutions. A seat facing west to east, with the east symbolizing a good start and rapid development, is suitable for leaders in software development engineering and market development companies. A seat facing south to north indicates being good at dealing with people and having a desire for advancement, suitable for leaders in administrative departments. A seat facing northwest is suitable for leaders who want stable development, have long-term plans, and want to get along well with their subordinates. Seats facing northeast or southwest are suitable for leaders in marketing companies. A seat facing north to south, with the south representing enthusiasm and determination to overcome difficulties and win public support, is suitable for leaders in mass media, sales, and fashion companies. A seat facing east to west is suitable for leaders approaching retirement, especially those in investment and sales companies, implying that the company has financial strength or promising investment projects.
