CCTV Discusses Office Chairs
CCTV's discussion on office chairs focuses on two core issues: quality and safety, and industrial upgrading.

I. Quality and Safety Issues: Hidden Dangers Cannot Be Ignored
CCTV revealed through the sampling data of the State Administration for Market Regulation that the quality and safety issues of office chairs are prominent. The batch failure rate of swivel office chairs reached 23.3%, with major problems centered on base fractures, caster detachment, formaldehyde exceeding standards, and explosion risks. Among them, poor-quality gas springs are the main cause of explosions. Issues such as overly thin tube walls, impure inert gases, or the use of compressed air instead can lead to pressure imbalances inside the gas springs, triggering explosions. Additionally, some products lack explosion-proof steel plates, further exacerbating the risk of injury to users in the event of an explosion. Multiple cases reported by CCTV show that explosions of poor-quality gas springs can cause severe injuries to users' buttocks and legs, and even endanger their lives.
The issue of formaldehyde exceeding standards is also noteworthy. If poor-quality adhesives or artificial boards are used in the seat cushions, backrests, and other components of office chairs, excessive formaldehyde may be released. Long-term exposure can trigger respiratory diseases or allergic reactions. Base fractures and caster detachment directly affect usage safety, potentially causing users to fall or equipment damage.
II. Industrial Upgrading: Technological Innovation Drives Industry Transformation
CCTV's "Powerful Nation, Intelligent Manufacturing" program took Yongyi Furniture as an example to showcase the upgrade path of China's seating industry from traditional manufacturing to intelligent manufacturing. Through R&D investment and technological breakthroughs, Yongyi launched the FLOW550 product equipped with a hip-axis synchronous lumbar support system, achieving continuous optimization of lumbar support and enhancing user experience. At the same time, the company has established a strict quality management system, from raw material inspection to production process monitoring, to ensure products meet safety standards.
Furthermore, Yongyi collaborated with scholars to publish the academic monograph "Ergonomic Office Chairs", promoting exploration of industry standardization. This move not only enhances the company's technological influence but also provides reference materials for the industry in design, production, and testing, aiding in overall quality improvement. Industrial upgrading is also reflected in the application of intelligent manufacturing. Through automated production lines and digital management, the company has improved production efficiency and reduced human errors, further ensuring product stability.
CCTV's report indicates that the office chair industry needs to develop under the dual drivers of safety regulation and technological innovation, eliminating poor-quality products through strict standards while enhancing product added value through technological breakthroughs to meet consumers' demands for health, comfort, and safety.
